Problem with washer and dryer purchase from Home Depot

I purchased a washer and dryer from Home Depot and it was delivered today. When I made the purchase you also had to buy all new tubing about $60.00 worth for the dryer. On delivery I was told that they could not install the dryer because the tubing in. The house is oval and I would have to do this myself. I called the store and spoke with the store manager and was told it was a fire hazard and they won't install this item on the dryers in The Villages. I called home warranty and was told they have come across this problem before and it is not a fire hazard. Bottom lne Home Depot doesn't know what there talking about. I refused the delivery and went to Lowes they matched the price and it will be installed on Friday.

If it's a gas dryer they may very well not hook it up. You will need a plumber or licensed gas man. Insurance problem.

We got our washer and dryer (electric) from Home Depot. Both were delivered on time and installed with no issues.

Could you please clarify your 3rd and 4th sentences; they don't make sense, like you left some words out.

If I had to guess...what she is referring to as "TUBING" is the dryer exhaust hose (but would this cost $60??), and "the house is oval" is the metal exhaust duct in her wall is oval not round like the exhaust hose.

This connection could be problematic but a good installer would place the hose over the duct and seal it with duct tape.

Houses that have their dryer exhaust rise 12-15 feet and exit on the roof should have this duct work cleaned out every 1-2 years. You would be amazed how much lint accumulates in the metal rise to the roof......Potential fire hazard.

Sorry I was referring to the tubing. Home Depot lost a customer. They claim this oval housing is a fire hazard. I just spoke with the Sumter County building inspector and he's never heard of such a thing. Lowes will be installing the new appliances on Friday.

Too bad, you apparently spoke with a dope!! (sorry, dope) We kinda had the same issue, had to order the tubing with the purchase, and when it got here it was wrong. We took the tubing in to the store and they kindly switched it out, not many questions asked, and I believe the one we got may have even been more $. (won't swear to this...I am old and it WAS a year ago). But here's the thing...I believe all things for a reason, and "dope" and hassle aside, you probably ended up with the better thing....

I was asking about appliance install at Home Depot and got the same run around last week. Wont install a dishwasher if counter is granite. Wont install any appliance that hooks to water if the shut off is those push pull the Villages installs in most homes. Wont install an over the stove microwave.

They have to be crazy, those things are going to be needed with most every appliance install. It was like they were looking for reasons not to do it.

All of those problems are easy to resolve and any competent appliance installation person would not have any issues doing them.

I was going to upgrade the entire house to stainless steel appliances and the total came to just over $6000 and after listening to their list of wont do's, I said no thanks and left. Will go to Lowe's and see if they have the same installers.

I still have no idea what kind of "TUBING" you are refering to?? Can someone explain this?
