We have been here 10 + years and have never done much more than stock pile a little water.

We have a pool and a bath tub which can be utilized if really neccesary. Hower this does not lend itself to solve portability for an evacuation.

I have seen the "30 day food supply" buckets at Sam's from time to time. It seems most of this type prep requires hot water which may be a problem depending upon the emergency.

Most of us, except for our military time, have never had to deal with an emergency preparedness situation. However I thought it would be interesting to have a discussion here. I always learn from TOTV dialogue.

What have you done or do if anything.
How long a period is a reasonable time to be prepared for? I can't imagine more than a week or maybe two. THirty days being a maximum(?).

Military MRE seem to be the only real emergency meal package. They are expensive but are designed for "survival" and easy to use.

Anyway I would like to hear your thoughts on the subject without getting into a prepper discussion that is ready for more than 30 days out (if you think longer term is required tell us why and what).

We, at the Bug House, have a good stockpile of canned goods on hand that we rotate out on a routine basis. We also have the bottled water - as well as plenty of wine and cookies - for emergencies. A two week supply is more than enough.

In the 5 years I have been here, we have not lost power for more than a minute.

I cannot forsee any evacuation possibilities that would make us leave The Villages. Any doom and gloom possibility of poisoned water, pandemic, or nuclear explosion would not be better off by evacuating and living in a tent in the Georgia mountains. Besides, most of us Villagers are over 65 and not up to what we did for survival when we were in the military in our 20's.

Check out the many previous posts about Bug Out Bag , EMP etc...some decent information and opinions about what to have or need to take. If you look at my past posts I give information I have collected over the years for survival and disaster management methods, learned through experience.
