we sold our home, and sold it completely furnished., we sold our other home last year completely furnished, down to the silver ware, linens, boat, walked out with our clolthes and pics., we wanted to make it easy to move., as we already bought our new home in tv last month, moving to tv in 2 weeks. Just a note of encouragement to anyone thinking of doing the same ! with the cost of moving and everything, it's just material stuff, you can buy new with what you save, go for it, get relief and move on to important things - FUN !!, se ya in a couple of weeks. trish

Good Morning and Congratulations,
And I just have to tell you that I absolutely love your philosophy on the stuff. We have a couple of friends who have done just that to get on with their retirement dreams and they have never looked back. No regrets whatsoever.
You are so right. It's only stuff.
As I have read these moving threads, it has made me wonder if it is possible to find some really nice furniture in used furniture stores in the TV area. I would guess that a lot of people have moved some very nice things and then decided that they could not use them.

Congratulations! Isn't it a whirlwind of emotions.
We tell our son and daughter (and grandkids) tonight. We're going to Easter Service together and then over my daughter's home to celebrate our birthdays (Me and my hubby have b'days a week apart). I know they will be supportive on the outside but it's going to be raw emotions for them on the inside. We're pretty tight knit and family has always been a priority in all our lives. But they know the house is for sale; they just don't know that it's been sold.
I was told the buyer will be out next week when the inspector is here. She's from TX so I'm hoping she looks are my furniture and wants to buy it.
Again, congrats. Keep us posted on your progress

I have posted many times about "Bargains and Treasures" which handles Village furniture on a consignment basis. At a risk of being boring, here is the information again. They pick up daily from 13 Village homes and much of their inventory is from Southern Lifestyles and is very gently used. I furnished my entire house from B & T - patio, bedroom, living room, dining room, pull-out sofa for spare room, entertainment units, computer desk, etc.
You have to spend a lot of time there as the "good stuff" sells immediately when it is placed on the floor. I practically lived there for a month!
Directions: Located south of CR 466 between CR 301 and CR 101. There is a small road (almost looks like a driveway) on the south side of CR 466 (OPPOSITE MacDonalds golden arches sign on the north side). Turn south and follow the road, it will curve and take you to a small plaza with B & T.
Good luck, please let me know if you want any other information.

Barefoot,
Thank you for the information. I will put it in my TV folder.
Good wood pieces are so nice to find, gently used. We will be trying to furnish a patio villa. I hope before year's end.

Congrats!!
Happy to hear the house sold as a turn-key. We are considering doing the same.
As everyone has said, what you have now most likely will not fit into your new lifestyle in TV.
Johnny,
Our houses HAVE to be next!!! Here's hoping.

B3 (finally got the hang of finding the doodads)
My wife, the bargin hunter/furniture refinisher, has made extensive investigations into most of the local TV second hand stores and claims that the prices are too high - probably due to the high demands of well healed TV recent retirees.

Hi Chuck,
Thanks for the information.
Lately, I have become the queen of the thread hijackers and I am starting to feel guilty so I am trying to mend my ways. Here I am all set to get into a big discussion about furniture in a thread that is really a celebration of house sales.
I love to talk about furniture and have given quite a bit of thought to how to furnish the patio villa when we buy it.
But for now, I think I am going to bail on this thread and later start a thread devoted to just furniture. I have a lot of questions and I always find good answers here at TOTV.
So when you see my new thread begin, I hope that you will join in and please bring your wife to consult. Something tells me that she has a great eye for the good stuff. Anyone who can refinish always does.
I will get back at some point with the new thread, but Mr. Boomer just went up onto the roof again, and I have to go outside and run around and around and around our house screaming most hysterically, "Oh Honey, please don't fall. Please don't fall. Please don't fall. Aaaaaaaaaaaugh!!"
So I'll catch you later. Er, I mean I will catch TOTV later, not Mr. Boomer. At least I hope I don't have to catch him. But I sure would try if I had to. I guess I'd better get outside. I hear the clomp, clomp of big workboots on the roof.
Oh btw, Chuck, nice work with the doodads.
And once again, Big Congratulations to the successful sellers. We aren't selling our northern home - at least not right away. We want to have a patio villa in TV and we plan to spend a lot of time there.

Wow all of these sales. Congratulations Trish, Susan and Tom. I'm really getting jealous - how about you Johnny. I can't wait to post we sold our house. Peggy's right we have to be coming to our turn soon. Come on St. Joseph, Peggy, Johnny and Scottke (Kelly) want to be in TV permanently. I'm going to pray really hard at church tomorrow for all of us. Have a Happy Easter everyone.

We were fortunate to sell our home for full price last Sept. to the first person who came out. Water property is at a premium and usually sells quickly. Also, the market in Baton Rouge is still pretty good. We just left TV with a signed PA and hope to close April 30th. We bought a home in Glenbrook that was bought a year ago for $250K sold to us for $223K with no bond. So with all that, I feel we got a good home with a floor plan I love a lot. Also, the golf cart was a throw in. How lucky can two people get? Thanks for the info on furn. I think not paying for mover and buying used furn is the perfect answer for us. See ya'll later. Let the good times roll!!

You made the smartest move......selling all the stuff and coming down here ready to decorate. Wish I had done that. Good luck and God bless your new home!!

Oh Scottke I wish we were in the "sold" group, but when I said "Us too!", I meant that we are in the wishing and waiting group just like you and so many others. (sigh) It will change and we will all be there soon I'm sure.
