We have friends that have said that they will not travel abroad or cruise until the isis issue is resolved. Anyone else feel the same way?

Worldwide Caution (http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/alertswarnings/worldwide-caution.html)

I would travel now..before it gets worse though!!

The Middle East is a no - go ..Africa also. Mexico is not on my list either.. but that leaves a lot of NICE places to travel to yet !

We have an extended family trip tentatively planned for a vacation in Europe next year. One family member has already expressed concern about going. Two of the cousins planning to go with us do a lot of international travel for work. Hopefully they will be able to keep a pulse on what is going on over there allowing us to make a more informed decision about whether to proceed with our plans to go or not.

Back in the 80's when I flew quite often to Europe on Business and the nuts were bombing Corp.buildings, restaurants, etc. I flew on Icelantic to Luxembuurg and then took a train or rented a car to go to Paris. At that time Icelantic Airlines had never had a fatal accident and who the heck wanted to make Iceland a target. The one rule was that we had to land in Iceland on the way and we usually stayed about 1 - 1 1/2 hours and shopped in their duty free shop which had some real good homemade things. There usually were a few US Military planes who were duty shopping, (liquor, etc) and taking them back to the US. If I felt threatend today I would go back to Icelantic as they seem to be quite safe. Once in Europe I guess I would not worry anymore than if I were in the US as I think the risk on the ground is not as great as some believe. As they say there is safe in numbers?

Let's leave the political out of it - it's meaningless to the OP's question.

It would NOT be to wise to travel to some areas like Syria, North Korea, Afghanistan, Iran, etc. But if we let ISIS (and other terrorist groups) prevent us from pursuing our leisure activities then they have defeated us without even loading their explosive vests.

Other than many areas of Mexico (due to drug "wars") we cruise to all the Caribbean areas. Just have to exercise some good judgement in some cities just like you would anywhere here in the good old USA.

Good information to consider if needed. Thanks, PennBF!
