Has anyone gotten their flu shot yet?
If so where did you go?
Thanks!

We get ours at Publix but we wait until later, end of October or thereabouts. Flu season usually peaks in late winter.

We didn't yet, but usually get ours at Walgreens. They will bill our BC/BS insurance.

we get ours at Walgreen's. Once in their system, no paperwork to fill out
This year if you are over 65 they are recommending the more potent version....which we both did. Just like always at the end of the day one would not know they even received a shot.
We get ours whenever they start giving them so we have ours already. Medicare, doctors and other providers have said it is never too early to get the shot.

I always wait until mid-October on the theory that the shots are only effective for 3-4 months and flu season is winter.

CDC recommends getting the shot as soon as available. It takes 3 weeks to build up antibodies after receiving the shot. The season Begins Oct 1 so early Sept is appropriate. Best defense is excellent hand hygiene and don't get sneezed on at the squares!

We haven't gotten ours yet but we will get them at Walgreens this month. Medicare covered ours and Walgreens did all the paperwork.

I called my family doctor/internist and asked if he has received the flu shots yet? I did get my shot on Sept 10th. I get it early, takes approx 3 weeks for the antibodies to build up and protect you. It lasts all flu season. The earlier you get it the better.

Good post. Raise your right hand and I will swear you in as an honorary pharmacist!

I work at a VA Hospital in R.I. and just received a work e-mail informing that the VA has partnered with Walgreens to provide flu shots to VA patients. I would imagine this is a nationwide endeavor, but do check first with the VA Hospital or CBOC where you are enrolled to see if this flu shot option is also available to you.

Our son works in a medical faciity and they gave their employee's their shots last week. The rule is that if they did not get the shot they had to wear masks at all times in the facility and on the property.

I got the more potent version last year because we were going overseas. I also got a pneumonia shot at the same time. Man, did I get sick. After seeing my internist at University of Michigan, she advised the more potent flu shot was probably the culprit. But who knows? I would not advise getting the more potent one and a pneumonia shot at the same time!
Last year Miona Rec Center had a couple of days where you could get your flu shot. Very easy intake and very little waiting. I saw the dates in the Rec Center news.
