.
Today I'm met by political advertising on TOTV. I'm dumbfounded.
In the absence of being permitted to respond to political ads that I consider misleading, I find it completely inappropriate that there should be political ads on the site.

I doubt that TOTV is to blame, more likely this problem exists due to spyware and/or adware on your computer. Many "questionable" websites on the internet carry mini programs that are made to run on your computer without you knowing it. You may have some malicious "Add-ons" enabled.

I have seen them along the left hand side where I assumed it was all PAID. At least the ads I see there are local, etc. BUT this is not the first one.

What say you Admin? I'm sure I'm not the only one who agrees with Carl.
Has it happened again? Are you able to take a picture of it and send it to Admin?
Was the ad for a local government or national government individual or party?

I get them on my iPad for a Senate candidate here in Michigan! So, my guess is it is not because of TOTV. I haven't figured out how to fix it on the iPad yet.

I think the admin can sell this right to advertise on the site - with advertisement that are appropriate to the area and or history of the user -- dont think it is not malware but a paid advertisement by a add seller --- the operator of a site can allow say "home depot" to have a pop up or a strategically place add on his site - if you recently visited home depot -- the owner of the site get paid by home depot and home depot get a add for a possible customer who may have just visited their site --- its all part of giving up your privacy when you agree to use a certain site

How do you explain why I get ads from a Michigan Senate candidate on my iPad? This only happens on TOTV.
About a year ago, I took my laptop in to be looked at, They said it had the worse case of brownware they ever saw. They thought it was from TOTV. I run Malwarebytes on my laptop now.
Since the brownware problem, I've only used TOTV on my IPad.

This has come up before. Some of those ads on the left column are generated by google based on your searching habits and the content on the web page. So, a thread talking about ISIS current events might generate a politically leaning google ad.
