Actually my wife is 'the' consummate researcher online, and she's the one who found it (along with a wealth of other informative/useful websites pertaining to TV. It's pretty amazing what's out there!

Hi Happy 62,

I heard about it from my brother, who lives south of Tampa. I thank him everyday for it!!

Since you didn't list relative, I haven't voted yet.

My husband found it searching for things about the villages and then he told me.

Oops, I misread the question and voted for "friend." Actually, I found TOTV via a search engine (Yahoo, I think).

I actually found TV by "none of the above" choices. While on a week solo vacation to look for a retirement lakeside home I decided to take a break and make a day trip from Tavares to Silver Springs. It was on this drive I found myself passing through an "oasis" of which I had no idea what it was! Grabbing my camera, I took pictures through my windshield. Only later, did I research on the internet to find out what this most beautiful place was. I chalk this adventure up to fate.

I found TOV (talk of the villages?) from a link I followed after e-mailing a friend (a snowbird) that we were considering buying a place here.
My friend sent me something called JMAX Bits and I clicked onto TOTV from that.

Great info!!!! So glad I found it...
Have made friends and got into activities from the site.
Even tho we're only part time right now.......

(Discovered TV from commercials on Fox News Network).

None of the above. While traveling to Disney or visiting our children in Oviedo we would leave the interstate highways and travel the back roads. We passed here a few times and wondered what it was. Finally one day my husband said lets go look. At first we were sure we could not afford to live here. Stopped a couple times and found it did not cost near as much as I had thought. Stayed at a motel in Leesburg--could only stay but 2 days so did not do preview. I interviewed people at the square and the rest is history. My husband said we will buy now and I will retire in 3 or 4 years. One year later he was retired and we were full time Villagers. Best thing we ever did.

Are we talking about TOTV or TV?

If TOV is Talk Of the Villages then i found it from another link i had to something in TV, don't remember exactly.

If TOV is The Villages community itself then i found it via web research that i was doing for golf course communities in FLA.

That's what I am trying to figure out, too, Russ, but nobody will tell me. :(

However, with two topics running in the same thread, it IS pretty hard to go off topic, and it does make the poll rather useless, not knowing about which prong people are answering.

Thank you Russ for pointing out the technicality.

I misread it for TV but think it was meant as TOTV. :dontknow:

I found TOTV by accident while searching on the internet. ;D

Found the TOTV website from following one link to another while doing some goggle searches on the Villages. I can't remember the exact site that the link came from.

Since finding this site, it is my main connection to TV until we can move.

I googled 'forums the villages florida" and TOTV came up. Was hooked since. I don't do chat because we haven't moved yet and I don't know enough about TV to talk about. Will close April 30th and move in May 1st.

If we're talking TV, my sister-in-law mentioned seeing the sign on I-75 and I researched it on the net.

If we're talking TOTV, the Archangel Gabriel came down from heaven and told me about it in a dream. Or not, I don't remember.

Maxine is a computer maven from the Villages Computer Club (VCC) who is a big AOL fan. She sends out e-mails to members of the VCC who have questions and/or concerns about AOL. Think that's what JMAX bits are. http://www.thevillagescomputerclub.com/links.htm

I learned about TV (The Villages) in 1998 when we got The Golf Channel. That silly little song about Florida's friendliest home town not withstanding lol. Being totally obsessed with Golf it seemed like a great idea so I sent away for the video; yes I actually think I have that video tape around here somewhere.

TOTV (Talk of The Villages), I think I found it on www.lylesellsfla.com when I was looking for previously owned property at TV.
