A little girl asked her Mom, "Mom, may I take the dog
for a walk around the block?" Mom replies, "No, because she is in heat."

"What's that mean?" asked the child.

"Go ask your father. I think he's in the garage."

The little girl goes to the garage and says, "Dad, may I
take Belle for a walk around the block? I asked Mom, but she said the
dog was in heat, and to come to you."

Dad said, "Bring Belle over here." He took a rag, soaked
it with gasoline, and scrubbed the dog's backside with it to disguise
the scent, and said
"OK, you can go now, but keep Belle on the leash and
only go one time round the block."

The little girl left and returned a few minutes later
with no dog on the leash. Surprised, Dad asked, "Where's Belle?"

The little girl said, "She ran out of gas about halfway
down the block, so another dog is pushing her home."

Reminds me of a long ago incident. We had a young cocker female, beautiful little thing, and she went into heat. While we had planned to breed her, we weren't quite ready so I cautioned my wife not to let the dog out of her sight when she was in our back yard. Well, unfortunately, with a little child, she had to take her eyes off the dog just for a moment. When she got back, the wise old beagle from down the street was doing the dirty deed. My wife called me in a panic and asked what to do. I said, "get a chair and watch and hope that the old guy isn't as potent as he might have been". Several weeks later we had cocker-beagles which we gave away..amazing how fast they went to good homes. Cindy got spayed shortly thereafter and lived a long happy life with us. A few years later we came back to Manassas to visit and saw the cocker-beagles. They were sweet!
