Thanks for all the response to my "gripe" with Comcast. Thanks to all the help, I think I have my answer now.

We were a DirecTV customer for over 15 years and just switched to Comcast. So far, so good. I have no complaints with Comcast. We were Comcast Internet customers for several years before we switched to Comcast for our television service. No complaints with the Internet service either. What are your complaints with Comcast, if you don't mind me asking?

We ditched Comcast for our TV about 4 years ago. We were tired of equipment break downs and poor customer service. We picked up Direct TV. We have been very happy with them. I will tell you though when it storms you may lose your TV reception for the duration of the storm (while it rains hard). Then it will come back on once it is over. We have a high definition DVR and have many recorded programs and we just watch those while the storm is going on. This may be frustrating for someone who loves to watch football and a storm pops up. For us it has not been an issue. We do have Comcast for our internet service. Very few interruptions and we have over 50 mbps.

For a quick answer, go to the top of this page and hit the search button. Type Comcast service, there is someone on here at least once every week or two complaining about their customer service, I believe they're rated 'the worse'. You might also search Directv and Centurylink and if you're in the new area, search Brighthouse. Myself, I dropped Comcast in 2008 and have had Directv ever since. Wouldn't want anything else. It's not cheap, but the best never is.

Maybe it's me who writes a lot although there are a lot like me out there. Latest issue was with my e-mail and after my initial call, I was immediately transferred to support.com, without trying to solve my problem, who informed me they are separate from Comcast and that it's a separate charge to try to fix my problem. Really? Like over $200.00 a month isn't enough. I was not going to do that so I was told to call Comcast back directly as they could not transfer me. I did so and the call was dropped. Called again, jumped thru all their hoops for the 3rd time, and this time the person said she would put in an order for a tech person to call me back within 24 hours. I knew that wouldn't happen as the last time it took 4 days. Mind you this is just a return phone call, not someone coming to the house. This was Monday morning and it's now Wed afternoon and no return call. But I fixed it myself! So I don't need their help. I can't wait for our move and to switch to Brighthouse. I think the day I cancel the service here I will go out and celebrate. We are too close now to moving to our new home in TV to drop Comcast here and Chicago and start with another provider. I look forward to the future though.

We dropped COMCAST after 2 months and went to DIRECT TV....We ended up paying to cancel our contract to get out of DIRECT TV....Customer Service, "sub contractors" who show up when they want to for service calls rather than their appointment time AND not to mention the cost with inability to surf channels without the delay from channel to channel and storm interruptions........WE ARE NOW CENTURYLINK PRISM JUNKIES!! Great Customer Service, GREAT HDTV service and lightening fast Internet.....The FIRST & ONLY Cable / Internet Provider that actually sends a bill to tell you to call them so you can see if there are any current promotions that will save you $$$....LOVE CENTURYLINK.......STOP BY THE PRISM OFFICE IN front of Target and see Kayla.....Superb, Superb, Superb.....:)

You can also go online and watch the DirecTV programming while your dish is out of commission. I have had to do that a couple of times this year. Watching on my 37" Computer monitor is not really torture.

We had terrible problems with Comcast which included monthly bills that were false, service which proved they are the worst in the country, etc. As a result about a month ago we switched to Direct TV which we really like. The pictures are much better than Comcast and we get to see the NFL games. Net: We waited too long to cancel Comcast and we really like Direct TV.

I had Direct TV for a while but I didn't like losing the picture whenever it rained. I switched to Century Link Prism two years ago and I like it very much. No dish, it comes through wires. Phone and internet too it's all good

I just went round and round with Comcast. After telling them I was going to look into magic jack and that I had stopped automatic payment, they "found" another promotion for me. I still might stop by Century Link though.

We've had Direct TV since 1999 !!! Best HD picture by far!! Try the rest but Direct TV is the best! !!

Switched from Comcast to Direct TV to Dish, and finally got smart and switched to CenturyLink. The other 3 can not compete with CenturyLink for service and price.

Do you know if CenturyLink has the NFL Redzone or NFL Channel?

How does Comcast stay in business. I sure hope the FCC does not permit Comcast and Time Warner to merge! We like Brighthouse but that is not available in all Villages. We have Dish Network at our other home and like it.

Good question. They have spread themselves so thin they can't handle it all, especially given their outsourcing and these people are not properly trained. They also have a home security system. Can you imagine how they handle this? Also Business Comcast. Maybe all their resources go to the Business Comcast since they almost have a monopoly on their other services.

We had some issues with Comcast (more customer service attitude based than actual product issues) and switched to CenturyLink about 2 years ago. We found there might be more flexibility with on demand and DVR options with Comcast, but overall CenturyLink was less expensive; they extended promotions for us after the initial period was up, and they seem to try harder to resolve issues ... even coming on a Sunday to fix something.

We haven't gone the DirectTV route because we heard that bad weather (rain especially) has more of an effect on the service - and with all the storms we get here, didn't want to risk being without cable that often.

We're hoping some time soon BrightHouse will be providing service north of 466 since that's what we have before moving to TV.

We currently have Comcast, but are seriously considering swithing to DirectTV because they have the Genie that can be viewed at several locations and you can record up to 4 channels on one base unit. The cost is supposed to be cheaper that Comcast and there will be more channels. We don't have HBO or Cinemax or any movie channels except Starz, so the bill should be considerably cheaper.

I have also heard that if you are watching a program in HD and a storm knocks out your signal, you can switch to the standard definition channel and it is not blocked. Probalby won't work with all the sports channels, but that doesn't concern us either.

I am just not looking forward to all the hassle of switching and learning the new channel lineups.

Hi TNLAKEPANDA: consider if the merger is allowed it will open Comcast to WiFi meaning that they can add cell phones to their bundle and that is hat I want one company to handle TV Internet and all my phones.

Comcast has done well by me. It did take a little time but I learned where to go and who to speak with. and the rest of the story is they made these folks available and they did listen

I am guessing that those of you that like the service from century-wink [emoji6] are south of 466A. I live just south of 466 and we are limited to 6 mps DSL service for our internet. And that's if everyone else in the village is asleep. Many times I get less than 2 mps download. No joy in Mudville with that kind of 1990s speed. Worse, they won't let me out of 1 yr contract for less than $200!! Not happy with century-sink[emoji13]

I've been with Centurylink since August 2011 for internet and home phone and we are south of 466 and north 466A in the area around Seabreeze. We have had 10 mbps speed the entire time, and I've never had it test lower than a 9. I just took a test and here is a 10.14. Our connection is called 'to the curb', we have no modem, I plug the router directly in a phone jack. It's a dual jack, one plug for telephone and one plug for the internet.

I dropped Comcast about a month ago and switched to century link internet only. Too expensive, too deceptive, too irritating...
Century link is fine, only one modem/wireless router at best buy, unless you pay the monthly fee.
Good luck!

Beware! I am sure they have people working with the company that would post other - beware - shoddily installed (wires everywhere), numerous calls that go nowhere. Can not put a television where you would like it. Send people up on saturday to fix your problem and then charge you!

I have has Comcast for 10 years, no problems. If you subcsribe to all the bells and whistles they offer in xfinity, then thats another story. it still is the best high speed connection

Hello, anyone find internet service for under $40.00 in The Villages? I currently pay $39.99 for Comcast Internet only.

What kind of speed is Century Link delivering? My standard Comcast speed is 25mbps. Thinking of getting a faster speed.

I live North of 466 in Marion CO near Lopez. They are now offering Prism and I am worried that non fiber connections (copper) will not be satisfactory. Anyone have recent experience in this area with CL? My phone and internet have been satisfactory.

My god! I would die with that speed! My comcast is 25mbps down and 5 mbps up.

I don't have any problem with 10 mbps speed, Youtube, Netflix, my Smart TV, everything works and never buffers. I believe 10 is the highest speed Century Link offers in Florida. Besides the internet, I have a home phone with unlimited long distance, caller ID and call block, both together for $59.99 a month. I have Directv for television, so my choice when I moved here in 2011 for internet and phone was either CL or Comcast, and since I had experience with Comcast back in Maryland and didn't want to deal with them again, I chose CL. Here's my package CenturyLink Bundle Deals (http://www.centurylinkquote.com/bundles.html)

Centurylink also has great customer service, but I've almost never had to use them. Once I had a problem about a year ago with my notebook computer, not the internet. I no longer use a password since it's at home all the time, but at that time I did and I wasn't able to log on and couldn't get beyond the initial screen. I called, they said we have computer technical support for $15 per month. I signed up, they took control of the computer for about 20 minutes and fixed the problem. I called the next day and cancelled the tech support, never saw a penny on my bill.

The best way to answer you is to just say.....Wait until you need to talk to them about a concern and have to call them. See the service you get after you finally get through to them. I had comcast for 6 years. I could not handle it anymore.
