Because many screen names are gender neutral and don't have an avatar picture, I have misread a person's gender on here more than once.

BTW pink clothing is a stereotype regarding gender issues.
ALL members of the NFL MUST wear pink clothing as part of new policys
(pink booties, pink gloves, pink uniforms, pink sweatbands, pink leggings).
Which NFL football player looks "pretty in Pink"?

I don't ever ask for directions, but I have worn a dress. Played a scramble once where the rules allowed any man who wore a dress to hit from the ladies tees. Yep, we won running away. Good thing some big ole gal put a skirt in the thrift shop that week.

When I was 18 or so I received a draft notice, I am a female! At that time (70's) my name was considered male( except for Lauren Bacall) . The only other spelling of my name was for males; Loren Matzel the Cleveland Orchestra conductor or Loren Green of Bonanza. Yes , I know there was Sophia Loren and Ralph Lauren . My name is my name with no nicknames even now.

Have you any idea what 91 lashes look like to a human's back?
( Initial lashes break the skin, subsequent lashes break through tissue and muscle… at 91 lashes, the torturer will be striking bone!)
Perhaps one of the most insensitive remarks I've yet to read?… (hoping you were unaware of their punishment.)

Why should it matter? You made assumptions without really knowing the facts..and on-line or in social media that dangerous! Does it matter if you are black, white or asian or whatever? In on-line chat rooms people become too close to people they really dont know....and this is how they get in trouble. WE share information on-line but is it truth, lies, or something in between. Would a post made on this board have more meaning if you knew it was from a male or female or does the post stand on its own and survive scruitiny!
I think over a period of time you learn which posters like to spread rumors, or tell 1/2 truths or just stir up the pot!! The Crispers monthly meetings do serve a purpose to put a face to a screen name, and we all have found other ways to meet and greet people from TOTV. I have welcomed and enjoyed all the people I have met from TOTV.....including graciegirl. But we should all remember NEVER believe anything is true simply because it is posted on TOTV or any other social network.....or moreso because you simply assume it.

Lighten up, male or female, nobody's asking you to give out your vital statistics. You are either one or the other. Really, what secrets are you disclosing? If that bothers you, then don't answer.

A man looks at a portrait on the wall and says, “Brothers and sisters I have none, but this man’s father is my father’s son." Who's portrait is it?

Perhaps because of the snarky, accusatory way it was stated? "What does it matter" and "You made assumptions without knowing the facts..."
If you wish to differ with someone, how about starting with "I disagree with you because..." or "I believe you might not know all the facts."
Also, when a thread is started in a seemingly lighthearted way--no lecture, no digging in--ignoring the flavor of the post in favor of a drubbing puts others off. If the thread were something accusatory, all bets are off.

I just wanted to even things out a bit. You came to Graciegirl's rescue as though she wouldn't be able to defend herself. So I thought I would give Caroline the benefit of the doubt, even though I don't know her, that she had good reason to post exactly what she posted.
I didn't think Caroline's remarks were snarky. I think it's just that she has had different experiences with online posting.

I find this a very appropriate topic. Gracie always starts appropriate topics. If anyone feels it's not...there's no need to respond.
I'm female. Name is Gerry. My entire life it has been mispronounced. When in Dr's office's they ALWAYS come out and ask for Gary, or Mr....
Every summer, I always received details from school about the upcoming football season. I was always assigned to the boys gym class.
After moving here, I decided to use Gerry Ann.....even though everyone who knows me calls me Gerry. My mom named me that after my dad.....then went on to have 3 boys...so she could have waited and given them the name. Oh well....so I guess I am a female with a males name.
