Watch out for cashier's checks

FYI- My banker husband said they have been getting notices at the bank (here in NC) about fake Cashiers Checks. An astounding amount of them are surfacing. And they look very real.
So be careful if you take one, check it out with the bank before delivering the merchandise or whatever.
They put a big notice up for the customers about them at his bank.
It's a real problem as most people think cashiers checks are like cash and easily accept them, sometimes for very large amounts.

It's such a common problem in California that cashier's checks have a 5-day hold before the funds are issued. Computers are truly great things. Sadly, some use it for all the wrong reasons, including printing fake checks, stealing ids, etc.
