has been awhile since a dog poop thread has been on here, but here it goes again.
thank you dear neighbor for allowing your dog to use my driveway to poop on. it is bad enough when i find the droppings on my lawn, but really...in the middle of my driveway. what part of "gee, i did not see him/her do their business" do you think i could believe?
please, take your dog home and let him crap all over your own yard.
really!

Frankly, I can't get my dog to understand that he must use his own yard. But I do pick up after him religiously, and when I move to TV, I will continue to do so.

Hmmmmmm means they don't want you to pick it up off their property, they don't want it there in the first place for you to have to do so.

Are you sure it's a dog? Have you actually seen it happen? In the last week I have found two poops in our yard that were definitely not golden retriever size. I suspected a cat, since they were in the side yard. Sure enough, yesterday we saw the cat running through our backyard.

..... thank you dear neighbor for allowing your dog to use my driveway to poop on.

Disrespectful dog owners give us all a bad name. :ohdear:
However I don't think that posting a thread on TOTV is the best way to tell your neighbor that you're upset.
Why don't you talk to your neighbor directly, or at least write him a note?

Who's pooping on the driveway? Not saying that this is the culprit, but it may be.

Travelguy said it was a neighbor's dog so presumably he saw them in action.
Unless the neighbor has a pet toad. Hmmmmmm.

Dogs are permitted in The Villages.
Residents should understand that when pet owners take their dog for a walk, "things" happen.
If a dog owner picks up after their dog, that's what you expect and I'm afraid that's all you can ask.
Regardless of what you think, they are doing the right thing.

Let's not get too territorial about grass that isn't harmed in the least.

I read travelguys post as that he was assuming it was a neighbor's dog, not that he had seen his neighbors dog doing it. Yes, it's unlikely that it was a toad, however, I've recently seen a mystery driveway pooper been identified as a toad...right here in TV! Not kidding.

I don't quite understand why people get so upset if a dog walks on their grass. Workman of one sort or another, service people and particularly landscape people actually do some visible damage, but dogs don't.

How come no one complains about what these people do, but if one 5 lb. chihuahua is on their grass, they go bonkers!

People have a right to determine what takes place on their property. It is their property. You don't get to decide what takes place on their property. Period. Attitudes like yours are what make responsible dog owners worry. We, the responsible dog owners, who don't allow our dogs to trespass on private property, have to deal with the fall out of those that do.

I resent what you are implying!
You have no idea who I am so please don't pull any derogatory conclusions out of the air.

I am a VERY responsible dog owner.
If I take my dogs for a walk, I am not going to walk down the middle of the street.
You realize, of course, that we have no sidewalks.
I am not going to walk my dog on the scalding hot black asphalt either, if it's during the day.
If my dogs are on your grass, they will do no damage. I promise.

What is this nonsense that some Villagers suddenly come up with regarding "trespass???"
What, pray tell, is the REAL problem?
Suddenly, people move to TV and whammo . . . a blade of green grass becomes a consecrated thing that is worthy of jail time if stepped upon?

What did these people do before they moved to TV???

Perhaps all the trespass-sayers should band together and picket so that all dog walkers will know how guilty they are of committing this heinous crime.

When you pick it up was it filled with dead bugs? I think you should google frog poop before assuming it was the neighbors dog... you might be surprised at what they are leaving in your grass and on your pavement.

my main reason to start this thread was that i wanted to rant about something that continues to bother me. irresponsible dog owners allow their dogs to walk wherever they want to. hot asphalt or hot cement sidewalks are of no concern to me. the lawn is mine and it is not a public park, dog park, or a urinal for your pet. if you want to allow your dog to frolic on the grass then i suggest you go to one of the 3 (yes, only 3 of them) dog parks in the villages. the mail stations and pool areas are not dog parks and yet i see dog owners using those areas for dogs. and the entryways into the villa neighborhoods are also not dog parks. if your pet must have green grass under their feet then i suggest you walk around in a circle over and over again on your own lawn!
and if you are in a villa and do not have any grass anymore, then dig up some of that stone mulch and plant some lawn specifically for the dog. thank you.

I thought I had dog poop on my rocks in my yard, turns out it's from fox. We have a family of fox in my neighborhood that seems to like to do their business on rocks and driveways. They don't seem to go on grass. You can buy an electronic devise that will keep dogs and fox out of your yard for about $40.00.

Come look at my lawn. I'll let you know when. We potty our big dog in the landscaping stones because the pee absolutely kills the lawn (big yellow oval, yes) when he manages to pee in the grass, which he sometimes will when lounging out on a line on the front porch.

Bonnie, I do walk him in the street only, but only when it's cool enough, morning or dark, when the streets are nearly empty. A six-foot leash keeps him off the grass, but not in the middle of the street. I can make it work so that nobody's property is walked on. Because it's an "issue" here in TV with many folks, I feel the easiest thing to do is keep the dog off the grass.

My husband was sitting on the porch one morning when some guy came by with his dog on one of those extendable leashes. He didn't see my husband, and extended the leash to let the dog all the way up our yard to the landscaping. My husband stood up and said "That's our yard!" The guy apologized and said it wouldn't happen again, and my husband said Thank you.

But... I'd still like to hear from the OP if he has actually seen his neighbor let his dog poop in his yard/driveway.

Maybe Republicans and Democrats will learn to cooperate for the good of the country.
Maybe we'll find a way to cooperate and have have peace in the Middle East.
Maybe we'll cure most of human suffering...............
But we ain't gonna solve this issue.
Dogs gotta walk.
Dogs gotta poop.
Owners gotta pick it up.
Those owners who don't are giving dogs and owners a black eye.
All poop does not come from dogs.
What do you want?:sigh:

I am truly sorry you are having problems with a pet in your neighborhood. I do have to say that other than your property, all the other grassy areas you mentioned are all common areas to be shared by all residents. I as a dog owner have just as much rights as any non-dog owner to use these areas. Remember the uproar over the Tamarind Grove postal area not allowing dogs -- that didn't last long and once again dogs are allowed to walked in that area.
To say we aren't portrayed as a "dog friendly community" all you have to do is watch the video in the last v-mail. I think it does indicate we can walk our dogs in all common areas not just the dog parks.

it's not the dogs fault, it is the trainer. that is the reason our pool/park area is loaded with poo and urine smell. everyone has a yard, use your own property as a toilet, not all the common grounds. the green spaces will soon be brown spaces.

I agree with CFrance's post. I also walk my dogs in the middle of the street and do it when the streets are cooler in the early morning or evening. I don't let them go on anyone's lawn. I try to make them potty in their own yard before we leave for a walk but sometimes it happens on a walk so we pick it up. If it happens, it's in the street and not on someone's property. I also believe I don't have the right to go on anyone's property. I don't believe that grass is sacred, but I believe that what doesn't belong to me just simply doesn't belong to me and I don't have the right to have access to it for any reason if someone else owns it. I'm not looking for an argument, just stating my beliefs. I also felt this way before I moved to TV about other people's children playing in my yard or people walking their dogs in my yard.

If you read the letter/notice on the bulletin board at Tamarind Grove Postal station, the grassy areas around the pool/postal station are PRIVATE PROPERTY, and as such are not to be used as a dog walk area. Can't be much more specific.

We need a club in the Villages for dog hating lawn lovers. Imagine the fun they could have inspecting lawns for little brown spots and misplaced poopies. And, these activities would keep them off the golf courses, out of the bowling alleys, away from the town squares, absent from the activities of the 1,000 other clubs and sponsored activities at the Rec centers ... leaving the rest of us with more time to enjoy ourselves. In the unfortunate event that one should pass from their ranks, their beautifully manicured lawns can be used to cover their gravesites. They say you can't take it with you, but snuggling eternally with one's perfect lawn is surely a reward for time well spent here on earth.

I have female dogs and I know exactly what you are talking about. The subject seems to be dog poop, not pee.

At any rate, it would appear that some of these old people have nothing better to do than to sit and watch out their window to see who these culprits are. If no damage is done, I fail to see what the problem is other than the fact that they may just be dog haters. I mentioned in a previous post that the lawn people are the ones who do some damage with their equipment.

Yes, you certainly have ranted! While hot asphalt and sidewalks may not be of any concern to you, walking my dog past your house on your grass is of no concern of mine, if nothing is disturbed. My dogs are not frolicing on your grass; they are walking past your house.

You seem to be bent out of shape for no reason and make it sound like your grass looks like a dozen mine fields have blown up on your property. Lighten up or get a job. It will be more fulfilling than ranting and raving.
