Howdy! We'll be moving to our new Villa in five weeks and I'm hoping to get some info.

First: Where do we register to vote and get our new driver's licenses? Do we register our vehicles at the same place or somewhere else?

Second: Where do we set up our mail service? From reading other posts there seem to be some problems with mail in TV, so can anyone suggest something that might help us avoid problems?

Third: What days are trash collected? We're used to separating our recyclables; can we put out our recycling bins or do we have to bag them? Is there a special place to dispose of moving supplies?

Curly,

Welcome!!! Here are a few brief answers. Most of these topics have been covered...you can get these answers and more by using the SEARCH link at the top of the page.

Since it is a new Villa, I assume you are in Sumter County.

Step 1 Driver's License...2 closeby offices....Rt 25 off of 441 in Lady Lake; or Wildwood off 301. Can call to make appt or just show up. Bring old license; may need to bring passport too - I didnt' need it but a neighbor did.

Step 2 - Title/Register your car - Sumter County Annex building at Morse Blvd and 466; can also do voter registration here and file for homestead exemption for property taxes.

Mail Service...pickup your key from Jane's outpost in Lake Sumter landing; as you will read in other posts that should be automatic to start delivery, but, you might want to check with the post office to be sure or meet your letter carrier at the postal facility for your neighborhood.

Trash collection...varies by neighborhood; ours are Tues and Fri; check with your neighbors. Recyclables collected once a week.

Recyclables...all go into a clear plastic bag; on dumping end they have an in stream machine that separates things out; no bins allowed. Moving suppies go out with regular or recycle trash. There is also a Sumter County landfill/dump off of 466.

Enjoy your new home and new lifestyle...

Just Susan

If you are using U-Haul moving boxes, you can return the boxes to them and they will recycle them for you.

You can also register to vote when you get your driver's license. They'll even ask you if you want to register at that time.

You have to have a Florida license before you can register your car. Also, make sure that your insurance card or policy says that it is valid insurance for Florida. If it doesn't, get a letter so stating or you can have your agent fax the Registrar directly.

Welcome to TV. Hope you love it here as much as most of us do.
