I am getting water bills over $100 for the past few months. They were never over about $35 before. I have checked around for leaks, toilet flappers, sprinklers, etc, and can find nothing.
Can anyone recommend someone who can help me? Should I call the water utility first?

I am babysitting a neighbors house and he just sent me an email complaining the same thing. I wonder if its a meter reading issue?

Depending where you live in T Vs the sprinkler water and the domestic water are on two different systems. Call the water company up , they should be able to advise you.

Royr, Not sure which part of TV's you live in but most of TV's have their potable and irrigation water listed separately on their bill. First, you want to look at which of those went up and then you will know if it is a potential problem inside your home or with your irrigation. Of course this only applies to those with the separate billing system, not those in the historic area.

If you have a single bill for water and have checked the obvious places you listed .... the sprinkler system is your next stop. As was mention above, make sure your controller is not running more than 1 or 2 watering cycles per week. Then check each sprinkler individually for leaks. This can me done by manually turning on one zone at a time using the controller and going to each sprinkler head and observing them. Look for water bubbling up around the base of the sprinkler at the ground. If it is rotary type, look for cracks in the body of the sprinkler (in the part that pops up outta the ground) as over time they just seem to develop cracks.

Also, make sure that you have no water running anywhere and check the meter in the box. If it is moving ... it is possible that you have an underground leak somewhere and it is time to call a plumber. If that is the case, I would suggest Kiley & Sons.

Have you figured out the problem? Just curious!
