I truly cannot believe you would make the comments you made in the Navy Seals thread. "Unlike the inanely specious political twaddle spouted by our resident liberals, this argument is pretty harmless." You really do like getting good people mad, don't you?
I'm a liberal and proud of it. I choose my candidates by what they say, do or have done, not their political party. I've voted for Republicans (Tricky Dick believe it or not), Democrats (Slick Willy) and even an Independent (Ross Perot). I've voted for initiatives backed by all sides. If there is a bond for education, it ALWAYS gets a yes vote for me. If there is a ballot issue concerning freedom of choice (whether for marriage for gays or pro-abortion), I will always vote yes. Gun control is a yes. Fiscally, I usually vote the Republican side. Humanity gets the Democratic vote.
Those who vote either Democratic or Republican simply because it is their party make no sense to me. That means the best laws, man/woman or choices are not being made -- it is pure hubris to think one way or another is the right way.
I don't consider the comments I've made to be inane, specious and certainly not twaddle. Nor do I consider most of the other comments made by the liberals here to be of such poor caliber that they would deserve your comments. I've either stated things as my opinion or can back them up with facts if necessary. An opinion by another, albeit opposed to yours, is not twaddle -- it is an opinion and should be treated with the same respect as you would want your opinion to be treated.
Whether you choose to give it or not, you owe us an apology.

Well, everyone is entitled to her own opinion.
I started to cut and paste a few examples of comments to which I referred, but then figured why bother.

Muncle, two of us have declared ourselves to be liberals -- Lil Dancer and me. Others have supported our viewpoints but don't claim to be liberals. A few have expressed interest in getting together to discuss the liberal viewpoint but they still have not come out and proclaimed themselves to be liberal. (Heck, I won't even call you a conservative although your posts certainly show a leaning that unless you publicly state that you -- it is your right whether you wish to be labeled or not.)
So, please do cut and paste my "inane specious political twaddle."

I don't think I ever said or even implied that it was you to whom I was referring. I've disagreed with your views on an occasional subject, but I haven't found your comments to be inane, specious, or even twaddlish (if that's a word). That has not been true of some others, from whom I can always expect opinions and/or comments I find laughable, if not abhorrent. But, they are entitled to their opinions and I'm entitled to my opinion of those opinions.

No, you didn't refer to me specifically but since I have proudly declared myself to be a liberal and you did make the statement that it was specifically liberals, I have a right to be offended by your comment. In the main, I would say those that are Democrats or liberals or independents make well-reasoned, carefully thought out comments and your crack demeaned those comments.
As I said, I do believe an apology is in order. If your comment was directed to one or two people, then perhaps you should have stated there were a few liberals whose comments you find inane, etc. You didn't -- you tarred us all with the same brush.
(BTW -- Miriam-Webster does not recognie twaddlish or twaddish as a word, but it should be. Maybe you can suggest it to a couple of dictionary publishers. It certainly gets the point across.)

Just an FYI before poor Muncle is totally attacked -- he did send me a PM apologizing for raising my hackles.

So, to twaddle is actually a word...it means wasting one's time on inane things. Technically, twaddlish is not a word but merely a corruption of twaddle. Now you know more than you ever wanted to know...and me too.
Like I said, good job!

I agree, I like Muncle, I enjoy most of his posts but this time he said things that were hurtful and disrespectful. So, what, pray tell, did his amusing posts have to do with this thread?

It is like at the dog park-- Doggie Doo Run Run-- once in a while some of the dogs really act like animals. Think that comes with the free speech aspect of most forums that you have to be tolerant of a dog getting his bark on. :joke:
TOTV seems to be one of the tamest and most respectful to one another forums though I have been on as I have often been mauled very badly by some of the junk yard dogs on some other forums like Snopes.com (2002 and 2003) and Findlaw's message boards (2002- 2008). I did not even know how badly I was being chewed up for instance in Snopes.com's "We've Got Mail!" section because I had not known they were putting my private e-mails to the Snopes.com on their public message board. Found out when I Googled myself late 2006 or maybe it was even January-February of 2007. A Villages Daily Sun reporter even found this garbage on Snopes.com archived message board when he was researching me for an article he was doing on May 28, 2007 or thereabouts on my survivors' rights activities with respect to Lake, Marion and Sumter County Library systems. I have not been able to remove this Tinfoil Hat BS off of Snopes.com for over a year.
Some of these top dogs on these other forums will or would say anything to get others ****ed off at them no matter how libelous, inaccurate, misleading or just plain mean-spirited.
