it appears from reading these forums and from further research, a person or business can have 20-30 complaints all involving the exchange of cash and they still remain in business scamming customers over and over. What service Do they provide for our community?

The OP brings to the surface a very good point. It would behoove Senior v Crime as a whole and per operating unit to provide statistical data which quantifies and qualifies their work. I believe many residents of The Villages would like to see a report published by The Villages Senior v Crime office of their results even if it is the number of cases they passed along to the attorney generals office. The same procedure should also be published by Community Watch.

The members of Seniors vs Crime all volunteer their time to help the community. They have resolved numerous complaints, however they cannot resolve all of them. They act as a negotiator between parties. I believe that this is a great organization that members of our community can use to try and resolve issues outside of the courts.

How about a few examples of what they have done.

Seems as though asking the question here is a waste of time. Why not give them a call, if you feel they do no good?

Well Bogie I didn't say they're no good. Reading this just learned they're volunteers and I'm interested if anyone has gotten results.

I had thought they had a database of cases they had worked on. You may want to look into this link.

I do not think the sheriff has the authority to close the business. I think you have to look to the DA's office and the courts for the answer.

Shortly after moving here we were involved in a situation where Seniors vs Crime was of tremendous assistance. They helped me put together sufficient documentation that the Sumter County Sheriff's office picked it up. I worked with a detective who was terrific. After a couple of weeks he felt he had sufficient information to submit it to the DA. Unfortunately the assistant DA assigned to the case decided not to prosecute.
Fortunately the Lake County DA was not as shy. Lake County was working a parallel track on the same crook. They got the guy good.

Many times people would avoid headaches and losses by checking with the Seniors vs. Crime people BEFORE obtaining services. They cannot recommend anyone, but they can tell you if they have received any complaints. If they have nothing, then you be your own judge. If you get ripped off or whatever, they will help you through the channels to resolve it and they will have a new listing for a complaint. Just because there have been complaints lodged doesn't always mean that you will have a problem with that same provider. This just kinda provides a "Buyer Beware" option. Ultimately, the choice of who to use is up to you.

I recently contacted Seniors vs Crimes to find out about a local company that ripped us off, and the info I got was "there is 1 unresolved complaint pending." They couldn't give me any details.
I will be going to Seniors vs Crime this next week to register a complaint about this same business. What I don't understand is how a business known for scamming customers can keep registering a business with the state under a different name. We found out that Tru Landscaping Solutions had previously operated under Florida Scapes ... and they continue to victimize their customers in the same manner.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO OUR NEWEST OFFICE - The Wildwood Office of Seniors vs. Crime opened in October, 2013 and since then have taken in over 75 cases and recovered and returned $268,967.00 to our clients in cash and services. Under the capable leadership of Manager Ed Kelly, the Wildwood office is meeting the demand for our services from the Wildwood/Brownwood area and we are very proud of their efforts. Great Job!!
