My wife and I are contemplating a move to Florida. We're trying to decide where. Could you convince us that The Villages is the place for us!

My first suggestion would be to visit the area. We were set in 2005 to buy a house in Springhill FL when it was time to retire. Then friends of ours moved to The Villages and asked us to visit. We stayed a week. SOLD. We're heading down in 2 weeks to look for a home. Have you asked for the preview package from The Villages? So many activities and you won't meet a stranger. Everyone we saw while even walking in the neighborhood waved or spoke. I don't think you'll be sorry.

I must warn you. Don't drink the water. You'll be hooked for sure.

Last five years we have looked at different areas around the country for retirement and many locations in Florida. We visited The Villages and knew this was the place for us. We visited last year for a week on the Preview visit and had a wonderful time. It just reinforced our desire to retire to The Villages. Do the Preview Visit you will never regret it.

When we moved to Lake Keowee in SC we were convinced that this was it forever! Then we heard about The Villages, visited there on a preview trip last August and that was it. We were a goner even before we drank the water.........we absolutely loved it! Came back home, prepared our house to put it up for sale, and are now waiting for a buyer. I am convinced that we will sell the house and be in TV before the end of the year. Take a trip down on a preview stay, (we stayed 5 days and I had to be forceably carried to the car to leave) and you will never regret it. F16, Nonie and everyone said it all......its the best place in the world! With the best friendliest people!

Hi Geekcazr: I'll be going to TV in 2 weeks for my Lifestyle Preview visit. To my surprise, (Russ Boston, listen here) they credited me $300 of the $750 I paid for rent for a week. I'm staying in a patio villa. Said something about, "trying to get more people down to visit". Guess economic slump is affecting TV visits also. So, my suggestion, {haven't been there yet but somebody slipped me some of the "magic water" and I'm sold already}, is to stay on this site, learn more, then go down for a preview visit. Good luck.

As I just mentioned in another thread, friends of ours bought and moved in last August and invited us to visit early in September as we were on our way to Orlando for a trade show. We arrived on Labor Day (Monday), and by the next day we hooked up with a Villages salesperson. Just like that! Suddenly had the feeling that THIS was the proverbial 'rainy day' we were always waiting for. Got real and did a ton of research after our trade show, came back in mid-October armed with appts with a Villages salesperson, one from the MLS, and a list of FSBOs to see. In the end our friends brought us to meet their neighbors two houses away from them who had to sell, and we ended up buying directly even though they had it listed (which they were able to withdraw simply with a phone call). All I can say is that it could not have felt more right, and there's no way to explain this; you have to come and see for yourself. All the best!!!

I'll be there in 3 weeks for my preview after a couple of informal visits last year. I'm sure that they will have to drag me out kicking and screaming!

JerseyGirl - I was credited with $75 per night for the same reason. My designer rental went from $175 to $100. Thanks for the heads up anyway.
