You can't blame City Fire, the man should be held accountable for his own actions.

A bar person should have refused drinks to anyone who has had one too many!!!
As always, it a singular person's responsibility to know, when they have had too much.
City Fire was in no way responsible for the person who decided to have sex on the square. Get a room.
Stupid is, as stupid does.

I am not anti alcohol although I drink very little. IMO there is far too much of an alcohol culture on the squares. I agree with the comments on the City Fire and also avoid that corner when with my family . Don't know what should be done, but it seems that many of the participants are other than TV residents. Residents or not ,impaired drivers are a problem here and the problem seems to be growing--- What say you?

Sorry, but in my opinion this is just another case of people blaming everyone BUT the culprit.
That's part of what is wrong today - everyone blames everyone else. McDonalds was responsible for serving hot coffee too ! WOW Surprise!
Citi Fire did NOT make the couple have sex. Maybe (?) this guy was not even served at CF who knows?
How about we start blaming the people involved ????

Some places on the squares change clientele as the night goes on. They become less local and younger.
The village I moved from had a town square very similar to LSL. But the bar bill for what was consumed by this guy would be at least $70.00. That generally kept the riff raff factor way down. Maybe not a bad idea to not have all night long happy hours.
That being said I like City Fire but usually gone by ten or when the smoke level is too high.

First it doesn't say he consumed it there, says he had consumed that much. Says he had the fight there. Also bars in Sumter County close at 12AM by law. He was walking around with 2 pair of brass knuckles in his pocket so was looking for trouble period. I've seen bar tenders in TV refuse to serve people because they've had enough, that's their job. The people who got busted for having sex in the square that wasn't City Fire's fault either. They had sex in public and she had a long rap sheet. Why bash the business ?

Of course I do not condone the serving of someone too intoxicated......as measured by what I have no idea nor does any of the rest of us!!
how about a little perspective?
City Fire and other establishments stay open after most of TV is in bed to cater to the younger crow that works to serve us when we are awake.
That means the threat of being ogled or molested is more a figment of one's imagination....which one is certainly entitled.
However once again a few facts and some conjecture mixed together with individual opinion and or hearsay and a general proposition that is unlikely is conceived!
Perspective?

What a shame to blame City Fire for this. :ohdear: That is just ridiculous.
I am at City Fire outside 3 - 4 times a week. It's a great place to meet people and meet up with friends. The owners and employees are wonderful people !!
The term meat market is also ridiculous. There are a lot of single people that go there and have a good time together. Most of them have known each other for years. I have known them for many years. They a very nice people.
No one said the guy drank there. City Fire closes long before 2:00 am. They are all closed up by midnight. Last call is usually about 11:30.
Such a shame to bash a restaurant because some guy was an idiot.
As far as the sex on the square, people need to get over this. They frequented a lot of restaurants. I would see them at Red Sauce, Cody's and several other places. Is it everyone else's fault ?
These are grown up people making their own decisions !! No body's fault but their own !!
Sorry for the rant, but this thread really saddens me !!!
Hope everyone has a good day.

I totally agree that City Fire is a fun place with an excellent bar staff that do keep an eye on things and top notch management. Patrons will go out their way to make room for you or find you a seat. It is mostly a Villagers crowd when I am there and definitely a Florida's friendliest home town atmosphere. Having some punk still hanging around at 2 a.m. two hours after closing in a retirement community speaks volumes about how much of a low life he is.

City Fire is such an awesome place and they help so many people.
My daughter had a house fire a few years ago in Summerfield. Her and my grandson lost everything they own including a couple of their kitties. City Fire was right there doing a fundraiser and taking up collections for them.
When one of their employees was in a devastating car accident, they were right there. Told him no matter how long it took to get well, he always had a job there.
They have raised thousands of dollars for charities such as Breast Cancer, our Veterans, Wounded Warriors, Tips for Cops and so many other great charities.
They are very community orientated and really care.

The couple that had sex did not do it on the stage. They were at the covered area by the water. They were at a couple of places that night, not just City Fire.
City Fire closes at midnight. Last call is about 11:30 so why should City Fire lose their license if someone is being an idiot at 2:00 am ?
It was a City Fire employee who called the police and went outside to help.
You won't "let" your wife walk on the sidewalk ? I'm there all the time. Never seen those 5 - 10 guys with baseball caps staring at anyone.

I don't understand, Karostay. Most people drink alcohol and some enjoy gathering to drink alcohol. City Fire is a gathering place. Many of us have at one time or another enjoyed a little drinking and chlling...or a lot of drinking and chilling.
We've been there and done that and have the teeshirt. Some folks are still enjoying the lifestyle and most are responsible and know when to stop so their behavior doesn't embarrass themselves, endanger people on the road and cause problems.
I don't know why you think the folks at City Fire are to blame for this. People have choices and drinking alcohol is not illegal.
That kid probably got boozed up and went there.

We like going to City Fire as well. They have good food and really nice staff. The reason the patio and bar area is usually so crowded is because it is such a fun place and at a good location to hear the music and socialize. All those "men in ball caps?", perhaps you should read what is printed on those caps before you run to the other side of the street. They are probably the Band of Brothers veterans organization. As others have pointed out, they meet there twice a week. Very fine fellows. They'd probably be the first to come to your side if you needed help. To call it a meat market or low end establishment is offensive to all of the good people who go there.

As one of the low end patrons, we are looking forward to going to the Brownwood location when we are fortunate enough to return mid month.
I was unable to open the link and I can only respond to what I read on the threads. My confusion is the fact the restaurant was closed, 2 hours later, a drunk was arrested outside of City Fire. How is City Fire responsible for his sobriety? Two hours lapsed after the bar closed.
I respect the opinions of those posting on this forum. The thread concerning judging by one's appearance were opinions. The original post on this thread, in my opinion, was generalities at best, and out and out defamation of a restaurant due to simply being in a location where a drunk was arrested.

CF is owned, run and managed up upstanding people who have good hearts. It is unfortunate that a few bad eggs have rolled in to make things smell rotten. I have always enjoyed being at CF with my friends and family, and have never seen any inappropriate behavior. Those who take it upon themselves to over indulge have done just that--taken it upon themselves. And if they get in trouble, it is their own fault--not CF's or any other restaurant/bar in the area. Isn't it time for everyone to grow up and take responsibility for their own actions?

City Fire does not serve till 2am. The bar and restaurant close at midnight and they do last call at 11:15. It never said that City Fire served him that much it said that he consumed that much. Who knows what he had before, after or even in his car or golf cart. It seems to me that it is easy to place blame on other people when the actual blame should be placed on the person or persons causing trouble. There is no bubble over the villages. Bad things happen all over. Its time to take responsibility for our own actions and the decisions that we make and stop blaming everyone around.

I am getting used to the fact that there are a lot of anonymous posters who LIVE to stir up arguments, put down this whole place and the developer and try to get our blood pressure up.
Those of us who live here KNOW what a wonderful life it is. And those who are not lucky enough, who may live just outside the borders, who are too young to afford to live here and may unhappily work here, those that have lived carelessly and not planned for retirement and those who and have always been a wet blanket or a pot stirrer are always trying to start trouble.
I think people are born that way. I saw many little people in my class who were trouble makers and are probably still trouble makers. I think the tendency is innate.
For the rest of us happy people, living the dream is the best answer to the trouble makers.

Re the topic...stuff happens and more stuff happens in bars. You cannot carry a weapon into a bar for a good reason.
I dislike CFire because the atmosphere feels sleazy, and it has dark haunties in spirit.
Apologies to anybody with different viewpoint. No personal offense...just diff strokes..
I need to ask this out of curiosity, what does "dark haunties in spirit" mean? I like the ring of it and may use it one day.

Gracile....I agree wholeheartedly....
To the Admin........there surely is a way to block and not admit people that obviously have nothing to do with Tne Villages and don't intend and want to live here...please try investigating this......

Nicely stated.
