I am going to start my reply by saying - If you can get an appointment with him, Dr. Richard Truesdale @ Gastroenterology Associates, 13940 Hway 441, Suite 801 352-751-4885 is probably the best in TV. However, there are several more who have been recommended here.
The last time my husband had a problem and I called to get him an appointment, Dr. Truesdale actually called my home and spoke to me on the phone for some time to find out exactly what symptoms my husband had and then they made an appointment. He is one of a dying breed - a truly caring physician.
However, he is limiting his practice, but he works with a group of excellent doctors.

I second Dr. Truesdale's group. I had Dr. Marianna DeJong from that group for my colonoscopy and hemorrhoid banding. (TMI?) She's great.

Dr. DeJong is great. Use her to follow up on my Cancer of esophagus.

Dr. Thomas Matthew or Dr. Ramos at Ocala Gastro. Group. Whole practice gets a lot of good comments.

I like Dr. Padman. He has done two colonoscopies and two EGDs for me and it wasn't bad at all.

Not a fan of Dr. Gabriel or Dr. Lal. Anyone in Dr. Truesdale's group is excellent!

Does ANYONE know ANYBODY in this category other than Dr. Trusdale and Dr. Matthews who went to school in the U.S.? I just feel more comfortable with Doctors schooled in this country.

Nor I.
I was not happy with Dr. Lal, either. He had me crying both times I was in his office and practically had me believing I was going to be dead in a very short time. The second time I was in his office was the LAST time!

I see a doctor at Shands who specializes in digestive diseases. If you need someone other than the villages doctor I would head to Shands or Mayo.

Gracie, what you need to really know is what hospital accepted them when they came to this country and that is readily available on their profile page. My grandson's girlfriend could not get into medical school here in the USA, she was accepted into a medical school is Australia and will return here to do her residency at an American Hospital.
Several of my doctors have trained at medical schools outside the USA and all of them have been accepted into top level hospitals to do their residency, i.e. Beth Israel NY, Harvard Medical School, Mass General and Walter Reed. Not too bad for being trained outside the USA.
Research, research and then research again!
