Some activists are busy trying to ban the name "Redskins", which leads me to believe it might be time to start thinking about renaming "Sperm Whales". Why? It's sexist!!!! ;)

I just read an article in yesterday's Daily Sun about whales, sperm whales.
Am I the only one who wonders how or why they came up with that name? It seems that someone must have had "sperm on the brain" when they came up with that name. According to this article, there was a citing of 50 whales which included mothers and juveniles, not just males. But they are known collectively as sperm whales. How embarrassing for the female whales. ;)

Suppose the tables were turned, how would we like to be called "Sperm People"?

And while we are at it, let's change the name of Herman Melville's classic. Moby Dick indeed. ~

To be modern, it should be Moby *****. Wonder if this will make it through when I hit "submit."

From Wiki:
"The head of the whale contains a liquid wax called spermaceti, from which the whale derives its name. Spermaceti was used in lubricants, oil lamps, and candles."

How do you jump from the redskins to sperm whales? And speaking of the redskins i believe many guys name Bill are pretty upset with the Buffalo Bills using their name in vain

The native American's in Alaska ate a lot of whale blubber. Whales are very big and fat. But, are they overweight? Would they live longer if they were slimmer? Would other whales find them attractive if they slimmed down?

I heard that the Washington Redskins were changing their name because of the shame and stigma attached to the name, "Washington."

That would be a good move on their part. Perhaps just plain "Redskins" would work.

Finally we are getting around to dealing with an issue which has bothered me for decades . Finally some justice for the "sxxxm whales " .
And for those of you who have brought up the issue of the " Buffalo Bills " lack of sensitivity I thank you as well . About time we cleaned all of these issues up once and for all time ! :police::police::police::police::loco:

Buffalo’s team in the All-America Football Conference (AAFC) in 1946 was the Bisons. In 1947 a contest was held to rename the team, which was owned by James Breuil of the Frontier Oil Company. The winning entry suggested Bills, reflecting on the famous western frontiersman, Buffalo Bill Cody. Carrying the “frontier” theme further, the winning contestant further offered that the team was being supported by Frontier Oil and was “opening a new frontier in sports in Western New York.

Do I detect an effort afoot to spoil the fun? Sorry, caveman, but the wiki answer won't cut it. It just leads to another question: Why did they take "sperm" from "spermaceti? What was the attraction?

Actually, now this is a good reason to change the name ...

Thank you for bringing attention to one of the most important social grievance issues of our time!! Sperm whales indeed!! ... this is indeed grossly offensive and ranks right up their with trying to ban the Redskins.

(by the way, I am part Redskin myself ... ie Cherokee. People need to lighen up ...)
