Just received my weekly email from CareerBuilder and this was one of the available jobs posted to their site:
Product Demonstrator - Costco Jobs in The Villages, Florida (http://www.careerbuilder.com/jobseeker/jobs/jobdetails.aspx?HostID=US&SiteID=cb_emailrec_US&Job_DID=J3J3YS6P0XYY9DJ454B&je=myrec&EmailToken=&IPATH=JEHRAXP&sc_cmp2=10_JobMat_JobDet)

This is good news for sure. I heard yesterday from a lady waitng in line to golf that we are getting a Home Goods. Has anyone else heard that? This lady seemed pretty sure of herself when spreading the news.

Nothing on their website about one coming to The Villages. Other locations listed as opening in Oct and Nov. Wish it would come here.

I will beleive it when they start digging ground for it. Of all the jobs you need to open a place, hard to beleive this is the first job they are looking for employees.

They certainly wouldn't be hiring anyone for a building that they haven't even started to build.
Also to me, the area they are showing where it will be, seems like a strange place to put a Costco. Of course that could just be me.

The map on the website shows it is behind my house at parr and buena Vista - I looked out my window and it's still a field. I doubt that the space is large enough for a Costco.

i actually clicked the application and was sent to third party. I think something is funny here....It didn't mention Costco....no phone numbers, or anything of value......just the villages.......hummmmm....
I think this has scam written all over it.......but what do I know...

Not exactly my choice as a first hire. My last e-mail to them requesting consideration for TV was answered by a "...thank you for your interest, yadda, yadda.... and we're always considering new locations, etc. - but we haven't yet picked this location...". I'm sure there is the ever present secrecy due to property prices, etc. - but, we'd sure like to have them in or close to TV, too. Altamonte Springs is just not convenient enough for us.

Hmmm...I didn't click the link to the application. I assumed that because it was sent from CareerBuilder, that it was legitimate. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

It is my understanding that the food demonstrators are hired by the various food brokers and vendors.

A couple of weeks back there was a thread on here where people were saying that in or around May TV would be getting a Home Goods. Seemed like they were pretty sure about it?

Given my "druthers" I would rather have a Trader Joe's than another big box store. No doubt that Costco is better but with a Sam's here it is unlikely to get another of that genre

Is costco better than SAMs
I just landed here from a city that first had a Sams and then years later got a Costco. There were those of us who preferred the Costco. They seemed to have slightly upgraded products but with very similar prices on the products that were similar.
While I enjoy Sams I would love to see a Costco, but as others on here have mentioned the location shown on the map makes me wonder.

It's been discussed here...plenty. Is Ford better than Chevy? Is Toyota better than Honda? Different...yes... better?...your call. I like both for different reasons.

Nice try Career Builder...OR should I say the Spammer that tried to use this as their venue.... the employees are hired by the general food vendors who in turn go through another agency... I know a person who works at Costco in Orlando and they actually buy their samples of food from Costco itself... they are for a fact not employees of COSTCO!

They most likely would not put it on Parr Drive. If one ever did show up most likely off of 44 by Brownwood area. But I am not sure that would even be the right place, need population around it,,,

I have never been to a Costco, but have always been happy with Sam's anyway.

Depends what you're looking for, but generally yes. Sam's tends to have greater selections in some areas, such as prepared meals. I had memberships at both and found myself going to Costco weekly, and Sam's monthly or bi-monthly. Costco usually had better brands in electronics and jewelry, better quality in produce and meats. Just my opinion.

Costco is a well run, progressive company which pays its employees a living wage with full benefits. Sam's Club is owned by the owner's of Wal-Mart. Costco ever coming to The Villages is doubtful.

One of the publix managers told me that walmart will build a store on 466a somewhere between buena vista and powell rd. You would not be able to get there on your golf cart, developer would see to that because not his land. A developer from wildwood and adeveloper from gainsville own all that farm land.

if and when the demographic and statistical criteria are met then Costco will put a store where it best suits that criteria.
All else is wishful thinking, which we all do or have for one thing or another.

Costco probably won't happen. Sam's suits me just fine.
I would love to get a Traders Joe's instead of going to Gainesville.
Yes to the Home Goods rumor!!!!!! Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
