View Full Version : How many times have you moved within The Villages?

I remember a couple of sources that state "Most Villagers move 3 times." That's hard for me to accept.
I haven't lived here very long. For those of you that have, do you think it's true?
I think I got the info from agents and some of the books I read before I moved down here.

We moved to TV in 2001 and we are very happy where we are. We did our research and bought what we wanted and it will last for the rest of our lives.

I suspect we will stay in this, our first house here, until we decide we want a villa within walking distance to one of the Squares.

We moved from Michigan to the Village of Santiago in May of 2000.
We wanted a bigger house and at the time the price for resales was way over the top so we decided to build a new house.
We moved to the Village of BonnyBrook February of 2004. We love it here.
It was great. We were the very first house built south of 466. The villas were in but ours was the first house.

I never once thought about changing wives and that's the way I feel about my home in The Villages. The first house is my best house and it will be my last house here. I love my neighbors

We bought a cute ranch home on a lovely cul-de-sac in Hemingway with great neighbors in December 2009. Discovered in 3 days it wasn't going to be big enough in the garage area. Three months later we bought a small designer home in Bonita on a cul-de-sac with great neighbors. Have lived here for four years.
Now we are moving back to Missouri because I miss my grand kiddos too much. I have 10 between the ages of 6-19. We had planned on flying back 3 times a year as it is too expensive for them to fly here. But a realistic time frame of putting up with anybody in your home is 4 days. After that you get on each others nerves.
Plus a dear cousin who lives here found out in June that she has Stage 4 liver, lung, and bone cancer. Life is too short.
We have greatly enjoyed our time in Florida and will come back to be a snowbird for a month of the year. I have greatly enjoyed TOTF!
Good luck to you all!

One and done. I found what I wanted, and hate moving.
Those of us who love their original house, is balanced out by the people, who have moved 7 or 8 times.
Three times sounds right but not for me!!!!

Connie - no need to say goodbye to TOTV. I left in July and obviously remain engaged. Lots of fun people and interesting conversations to enjoy.
Don't believe any of my TOTV friends mind that I have stayed around.

Bought a designer in 2010 in buttonwood and two years later I made the mistake of letting my wife go out with her friends "just to look" at the new models. Two days later, I had a deposit on a bigger home in Sanabel. You know the saying....happy wife happy life!

Bought a second house in TV and went back and forth from our primary DeLand home (47 miles East). Liked it so much that we close on the sale of TV house (patio villa) soon and then on a larger house in TV next month. The DeLand house will be put up for sale. That's two moves. Probably the last move as the new house has every thing we like.

My husband and I have purchased three homes in three years. The first, in St. James was a patio villa in February 2011. Since we thought we were going to be "snow birds" that was the logical purchase. Well, that was short lived. Our decision to live in The Villages full time brought us to number two purchase of a courtyard villa in Mission Hills in December 2012. Less than two years later we were looking at designers and as of October 29, 2014 we will be living in the Village of Charlotte. I am truly hoping this is the final move. I'm getting really tired, but who knows?

We are getting ready to be full timers. Just went to a designer. Our lovely ranch home in Duval is for sale. It's on zillow dot com.
2628 Thornberry Ave
Bond is paid.
I absolutely loved the home, but hubby talked about a designer, so like a good wife, I went out and found him one. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I'm in my first and last house in TV. I'm making it over to my liking and not moving. I hate unpacking and not knowing where anything is. This house is half the sq footage of my last house and I love that what doesn't fit I jettisoned. I can't say how much I love my new house and love how I made it all work for me. Nope, not moving, not now and have no plans to go.

we are in our third house now in the village of Santiago. Started out in the "historic" section in 2003, moved to DelMar in 2006 for bigger house with a
grage. Then when my wife finally retired in 2011 we bought the big house with the pool and garage ect. Hope this is the last.

I hope this is our only one
We have a CYV with a huge yard
We need the fenced in yard for our dogs
We have a doggie door to the lanai and from the lanai to the yard
CYV's are the only ones with fenced in yards
I love our house
It's an Arlington and every room has been stretched 2 feet
I can't ever see moving as my dogs love the freedom of the yard
