I am a single female, have been living here for 5 years, and wouldn't want to be anywhere else. I wouldn't trade this for anything. A friend of mine started a single women's club a couple of years ago for women who just want to have friends to do things with and not be looking for a relationship. It started with 45 women and now is about 200 members. We do all sorts of things. A group is going to Homosassa Springs today. We schedule dinners, movies, kayaking, bowling, miniature golf, shuffleboard, pickleball, shopping, day trips to the zoo, Tampa Bay baseball games, pool parties (we rent a pool for the afternoon so it is just our club) - I can't even think of everything. When there is an event going on in TV a group of us will go together. Plus, there are all sorts of activities in TV a single woman can do - you just have to be assertive and do it. Sometimes there are just not enough hours in the day for what I want to do. I was lonely as hell when I lived in CT - TV has opened up a whole new life for me!! My family has said this is the happiest they have ever seen me.

mfp...What is the name of the club? That sounds like so much fun! I'm coming in May for the "preview" and planning on renting for a few months there next winter.

509, Thanks so much for your post. I live in a very rural part of VA and can relate to being lonely. That is why I b ought in TV and I'm excited to hear how happy you are. I am so ready to change my life when I get there. Thanks again for putting it into words and helping me to stop second guessing myself. Herb

It is the Single Sports Social Women's Club and we meet the 3rd Wednesday of the month at Canal Street at 7PM. I wish we had come up with a better name - I've been in it for 2 yrs and still have trouble remembering it.

I'm going to be organizing a shopping trip soon to the Mall of Milennia and the new IKEA store in Orlando. We will meet somewhere and carpool down and have lunch there. I'm sure it will be fun. We might actually do that in May. When will you be here?

I'm happy to see that the club does other activities besides sports! In contemplating TV as my destination, I have been researching various issues, one being what groups I may join. I did find this group, but because of its name, I was fearful that everything revolved around sports. I'm not sure if I will be a golfer...I'll try it, but not sure it will be to my liking. The activities you've mentioned are very much to my liking! Looking forward to the group upon my relocation.

I would LOVE to join this group also, when I eventually move to TV, and I never would have inquired about it because I'm really not into any sports! All the other activities sould like much fun....... especially the shopping outings ! Could someone email me with a phone number for a contact person ?

I would love to have a contact name and phone number as well.* Hopefully, I can meet some of you when I'm there in May.* I'm wondering if this club has any special plans for Memorial Day weekend?

Best Mickey and all, there is so much to do here even if you don't golf. And great ways to meet people. Recs have all kinds of activities, cards, discussion groups. Plus the classes at the College have a truly wide variety of topics. (This week I'm taking Line Dancing for Dummies!) And that's not even counting the activites in the squares. You'll never be bored here. Can't wait until you're all here. :welcome:

Hi Sistahs,

Just realized this post is in the wrong category. Should be under Feminine Forum, cause that's where this other thread was. Please look at attached link, we're already thinking of starting "Thrift Store" shopping group. Maybe we could merge our groups if it doesn't get too large. Don't forget we'll have a bus and a bus driver, right Handie?

I hope this works, I' don't attach links often but if not, I'll repost. Thanks, Kathie

Is the Single Women's sport and social group still active?
