What is The Villages' developer planning to put in place of the cow pie factory on 466? There is a lot of activity going on with site prep, etc. I'm glad to see them move their operation because it seems like it would pollute Lake Sumter. :dontknow:

Having lived here for more than 10 years, I would like to mention that the Black Gold facility, or Cow Pie Factory as you labeled it, was here long before Lake Sumter was created out of a couple of ponds or before any development started south of CR 466.
I think folks should be more concerned about pollution of the man-made Lake Sumter now that it is being fed with run off from the LSL Streets and surrounding Golf Course.

According to today's Sun, the developer does own that land and is dredging and restoring it to a natural habitat wetlands area. This would be good news for the folks in Caroline who back up to it.

Don't hold your breath for that one. A few years ago, we were told that the buffalo were a permanent fixture on El Cameo Real opposite Buenos Aires Blvd (behind Albertson's). It is now going to be Freedom Pointe. A seven story high-rise blocking a perfectly scenic view and adding unneeded traffic.

FYI, I saw a segment on VNN last evening. The Cow Pie Factory is being "restored and returned to a wildlife sanctuary and wetland. :)
