If you read the local online newpaper today you will see the efforts of Rotarians to defeat Polio now.

Rotarian contributions, matched by the Gates foundation gifts (Billions of $) have funded WHO and other efforts that have been successful in reducing hundreds of thousands of cases of Polio each year to just a few hundred this year. With continued effort Polio can soon be eradicated from the face of the earth-forever. You can join in speeding up this mission of mercy by contacting a Rotarian who can tell you how to help.

This is such a wonderful cause and the effort has been underway since I was a Rotarian in the 80's I believe.

Unfortunately there are many ill-and-uninformed parents who refuse polio and other vaccinations. Their children will pay the price.

Bravo! Now could they or anyone convince the young moms who refuse to have their little ones vaccinated, to get them vaccinated instead of believing the autism link long ago dispelled and for which the British dr. who spread that for years was booted from licensing/medical society.

Ebola is a horrible dangerous desease but in the whole realm of pandemics it falls far short in the total lives it has destroyed when compared to Polio.

In the last decade of the 20th century and first 14 years of this , Polio has crippled or killed more than 15,000,000 lives. Some of us remember the crutches and hospitals filled with iron lungs. of the fortys and fiftys.

Please help us end this plague forever---we are so close. Ask a Rotarian how you can help.
