Went to Mystic Ices & Creams tonight for the first time. It is a neat "hippie" kind of place, with period decor and entertainment. The best part is several "adult" (read booze) flavors. They were were very good!! (I would imagine the non-adult flavors would also be very good). It is located on 466A, east of Colony, about 2/3's the way to 441.

Huge portions. If you can agree on a flavor, split one!

How much did it cost and do they have a liquor license?

Three huge scoops in a bowl of homemade waffle cone were $6. Don't know about any licenses.

I've been there and the ice cream is delicious. I love all the booze flavored and non booze flavored scoops. The only oddity is that house rule is that you may not mix the flavors. It's the only ice cream joint I've ever seen that has that rule. Go figure!

Been there a number of times since they opened before they expanded the place. Excellent Ice Cream and reactive flavors. Friendly atmosphere and fun.! I may be wrong but would not think you need a license to serve something that is made with liquor in it.

Jeff is very fussy about his ice cream. You eat it his way or you don't eat it. We fondly call him the "Ice Cream Nazi." He does not have a liquor license as it is not needed to make his ice cream. Therefore, he serves no liquor nor are you allowed to bring any in.

Any recommendations for a particular flavor? I'm going to take my sister there when she visits.

I thought he was really nice. I said I wasn't going to have any because I can never eat the whole thing and he said to get one and he'd put the rest into the freezer for me until I left so it wouldn't melt. I thought that was really considerate. Before anyone says he was just trying to make another sale, maybe we could just give him credit for being nice.

I'm not convinced Jeff cares if he makes a sale. He pretty much does what he wants and if you don't like it, you know where the door is. So, I'd say his offer was because he is a nice guy (and he liked you).

The first time we went there we thought he was related to the Soup Nazi........

I was there once when a customer had consumed 4 (four!!) margarita ice creams. Jeff said I thought I was going to have to drive him home! There is quite a lot of booze in those delicious treats.

I think they might be third cousins or first cousins once removed. It is definitely his way or the highway but he's still basically a nice guy.

At the recommendation of Redwitch, we took our 21 year old son to Mystic Ice Cream when he visited. It was a Saturday evening and there was a nice crowd as well as some live music. We enjoyed everything about our visit including the cherry cream, coffee fudge and Bailey's cream. Each of us, for very different reasons, left with a big smile. The place is unique and a very nice change of pace.

One of the very few ice cream places, with unique flavors, that allow NO SAMPLES.....PERIOD. He's pretty much rigid on most everything!!

While you're there enjoying all those sweet treats if Jeff is there ask him to do his magic tricks. Very enjoyable and how the hell did he do that moments.

P.S. Of course I only go for the magic :jester:

That's a shame, if you are basing that decision on these posts.

Hmmm!
So if I call my drink a "High Ball" and put whiskey in the ginger ale, I don't need a liquor license to sell it?

I would think that after being open as long as the store has..........the owner has checked out the license requirements. Don't ya think?

I think that there's such a small amount of alcohol or perhaps just alcohol flavors in the ice cream that a liquor license is not required. Sort of like a restaurant that serves something in a wine sauce or bourbon flavored chicken.

Ummm people put booze in cakes and various desserts and recipes and do not need liquor licenses to sell them... what you're referring to sounds like straight booze.

Outstanding ice cream, music on Saturday nights, magic at your table, nice 60's photos all about the place . . . it was fun and I'll certainly be back soon! They just put in a coffee bar in the back too!
