Cell Phone Reception or lack of

Is anyone else having issue of cell reception? I would think a village this size would have fantastic reception, how wrong I am.

I hate having to walk outside to get service.

Depending on what co. you have service with, you may be anle to get a device for your home that will improve your service quite a bit. I have Verizon. I emailed their Director of Wireless Communications and got the device free (the Cust. Svc. Reps. first try to charge you $200 for it). The service here is quite variable. We live in Sanibel, my neighbor has never had a problem with her Verizon service, while we had to stand on the front lawn to avoid dropped calls.

Just a point to consider...All cellphones are not created equal, so the type and model of cellphone you use will have an effect on your individual reception.

For instance, you can stand in the same place with someone, who has a different model cellphone than you and both your reception "might" be completely different, all while having the same provider.

I live n Charlotte, have an IPhone with ATT and had very poor reception. I had to go outside and find a spot to talk. ATT gave me a credit for a micro cell tower and now I have full bars at home.

I have an iPhone 5 with Verizon. I live in Hillsborough my home faces the north east. If I am in the front room near the window it's OK, if i am in the lanai it's terrible.

I live in Pennecamp and have Verizon as my carrier. I rarely experienced a dropped call but do notice that the signal is not as strong as in our house in Connecticut.

I have t-mobile. They needed to provide me with a signal booster for my home otherwise they are just OK.

Some of the stucco homes are poured concrete walls with rebar. They behave just like some office buildings in blocking signals. If your house (our your neighbor between you and the cell phone tower) are one of these, you won't get a decent signal. The fact that you have a signal in your front yard or in front of a large window suggests this may be the case. (The effect is called a Faraday cage)

Verizon wouldn't work in our home at all and we had to turn in our phones. Got AT&T and it dropped calls all the time. Bought a Microcell booster for AT&T from someone on TOTV and we enjoy 4 bars and no dropped calls. You can also find the Microcell boosters on Ebay but the person needs to have disconnected the Microcell from their account for you to use it.

It's a symptom of an area growing faster than the support systems. When we moved to Pennecamp 3 years ago we had the same problem with AT&T. Had to use the Microcell solution until new towers were added to provide better coverage between 466 and 466A. The POA did a great job of keeping after AT&T and setting up getting Microcells at a reduced cost.

We have Verizon, and live in Pinellas (just south of 466a and west of Buena Vista), signal strength was around 1 bar when we moved in, and recently has been around 3 bars. I think Verizon installed a new tower on Micro Racetrack Road.
PS reception is horrible in Spanish Springs bowling lanes, the only thing that works is text, and even that fails about 10% of the time.
