Check into ORECK. They have one that does both those and carpet.

Save your self some money and buy a Shark vacuum. $150-$180. The cheaper one is purple and the more expensive is white. Both are good but the white one comes with floor attachments.

I owned a cleaning business and nothing out performed a Shark. The other expensive brands were always needing repairs or bags, and did not have the suction power of a Shark.

I have laminate in the living area, tile in the kitchen and foyer. All carpets in the bedrooms and cement in the lanai. I am madly in love with my Roomba. It vacuums the living area, kitchen and foyer every morning. It does the bedrooms on the weekends, and the lanai when it looks like it needs it. I never have to vacuum again. I have a short haired dog that sheds a lot, and this little vacuum pics up all the dirt/dust/dog hair every day all by itself. :)

We have both a Shark and an Oreck. Shark makes more than two models, as does Oreck. Both of them are excellent on bare floors. They both will glide over bare floors with ease.

However, if you have pets, the Shark is terrible with pet hair. No problem whatsoever with the Oreck. We really like them both and use both of them.

Splurge and get a central vac system. The newer ones have retractable hoses that pull back into the wall when not in use.

We love ours for tile and hardwood.

The NEATO is a vacuum similar to the Roomba but has some features that are terrific. It, too, does a great job but I wouldn't depend on it for really deep vacumming on carpets. We have one and love it because when the battery starts to die, it goes back to its charging station automatically. When charged, it remembers where it left off. When your Roomba dies, you might want to try a NEATO.

I'll definitely check it out. I didn't know there were other kinds. Competition is good!! :)

Absolutely LOVE my central vacuum system. The suction is amazing! I even have an outlet and separate vacuum in the garage. I vacuum the car, golf cart and the garage floor. No dust from sweeping or blowing out of garage. When I'm done, the vacuum hose gets sucked into the wall. No muss no fuss.

I am a Dyson fan. Recently our Shark cordless/rechargeable lost its suction after a year and a half of use on our tile floors. We have a big Dyson model for pet hair & deep carpet cleaning that we love, so we replaced the Shark with a Dyson Motorhead stick cordless. It way outperforms the Shark (I am only comparing cordless vacs, not the big ones). It even does a good job on the area rugs, so I don't have to drag the big one out every day for those. Much dog hair and many bird feathers to keep up with.

My friends love their robotic sweeper & also their robotic mopper.
