I joined the Drum And Twirler Corps and learned to play cymbals. I am delighted to have had my first drum lesson today!
Ratatatat, and thanks to Peacock and Robin for drum corps leadership!

What are you doing new or wanting to learn??

I think that was about OREGANO, but ok, basil might work too. I dried my dill last year, but the basil has too many spots. I think it attracts those little knats cuz I have to shake them off big time to use it.

OH, my Internet is SO MUCH FASTER NOW, I can use totv again (lol, laying the blame where it belonged finally ;-)

I'm swimming for exercise, and taking water color classes and learning more about acrylic and pencils too. I tried line dancing but got to confused. Damn dyslexia. "Bad spellers of the world untie".

I did: birding and photography. I play a lot of golf on the executive courses. This means a lot of standing around. Long story short, I bought a 50x optical zoom camera and take it golfing. On a busy bird day, I put the ball in my pocket and just shoot pictures.

I love this place so much.

I learned how to drive a golf cart. What great fun!

I'd quit playing bridge thirty years ago. Little did I know how much I had missed playing until I started again.

I learned (and am still learning) how to run a small business. Not quite as much fun as bridge but certainly interesting.

Eleven posts and surprised that no one said this -- so let me be the first in this thread.

My wife and I never played golf until we moved to The Villages!! Took lessons 3 years ago and could not believe how much we enjoy the game and of course each other's company on the course.

Two years ago, on the first hole at Bonita Pass, my wife scored her a hole in one. I guess she is the better golfer in the family. :)

Almost forgot -- The Villagers we are paired up with during the busy season are some of the best, friendliest, and most enjoyable people we have ever met. They are a major factor in our enjoyment of golf and living in The Villages!!!

I have been playing lots of golf,, zumba, water aerobics playing pickle ball, bocce ball, shuffle board, Took a hula hoop fit class, learned to play Samba and Mexican train and today took my first Mah-jongg class. All this and we have only been here 4 months on Friday. The Villages is so much fun. I feel like I am a kid at camp. I love the friendly people here. Oh we also learned lawn bowling too.

I love the beautiful trees and it amazes me how beautiful the landscaping and flowers are.

Do you play duplicate bridge or party bridge? Are both offered at rec centers?

Since moving here I have taken up watercolor painting. There are an astounding number of art resources in The Villages! Many of the workshops through the Lifelong Learning College are with world-renown painters.

I have also taken tap dancing classes. Where else in the world could you sign up for beginning tap dancing and not be in a class with 3-year-olds?

I joined the kazoo band, and marched in parades. We had a kazooingly good time!

I enjoy working out at Zumba exercise classes.

But most of all, I have met the most delightful people in these groups! :coolsmiley:

I really like parasailing. Is hang gliding similar or does it require more skill?
Is there a website? Thanks Bonnie.

I went to a club for Zen Meditation about a month ago. It was somewhat interesting but not exciting or fun. :) It made me sleepy.

Monday I went to a karate class. Basically, it's mostly about self defense. I met some very nice people but I don't think it's for me. Do I need self defense in America's Friendliest Hometown?

I signed in on something else that I think will be good but I'll keep that a secret for now. I'll let you know how it works out. :)

Hope it's ok to share what I plan to do once we move to TV;

eager to....

1. Learn pickleball. Seems like it would be a sort of.....outdoor Ping-Pong.
2. Play water volleyball.
3. Play sand volleyball. Just hope we can buy a home relatively close to one of the few sand courts in TV.
4. Ride my hybrid bike for miles & miles. Here in Birmingham the terrain is a little too hilly for enjoyable biking.
5. Learn how to line dance at one of the town squares.
6. Grow & nurture lots of palms & tropicals that won't survive up here in zone 7b.
7. Join the Village Vettes corvette club. Love my C5 vette & the comradery with other corvette owners.
8. Explore Florida on day trips.
9. Try real golf for the first time....IF I can fit it in amongst everything above.

here is there website:

Quest Air Hang Gliding (http://questairhanggliding.com/)

I've never done parasaling but I suspect it would be similar except you go much higher. I found a groupon for it.
