My front window gets strong afternoon sun. Could someone recommend a window film company. I've heard the film helps with the sun's heat.

I've been told, not sure of accuracy, that the window warranty would be void if you install window film....Anyone know about truth!

I used the Solar Guys and they did a great job for a reasonable price.

We used IES Window Tinting 4 years ago and have been very happy with the job. They advertise in the Sun. 352-245-0833

We had scheduled window tint install on 2 large sliders.
It was scheduled about 2 weeks out. In the meantime we had our window installers out to check on a foggy window. When the installer was here, I mentioned having window tint scheduled for the sliders. He spent a great deal of time with us explaining why that was not necessarily a good idea.
The warrenty is voided. That is true. The window tint guys do give a warranty that would be in place instead of the original warranty, but there is often a large deductible. Also he told us that the heat can build up between the film and the window which can cause the window to break. He also see installs where the seal on the original window was broken as the tint was applied. Then it's just a matter of time until there is a failure with the window. He said that he replaces windows all day that have broken due to window tint film. Usually the owner has to pay the repair and waits to be reimbursed by the tint company. Minus their deductible.
After doing our homework and reading the fine print we cancelled our window tint appointment. We saved a bunch of $$ by not doing it. If the sun starts to really bother us when it enters the sliders through the lanai, we may just get Cooleroos for that area. That would protect the lanai as well as the sliders.
It is a big decision. I am grateful that he spent some time telling us the "cons" of having the windows tinted. We had simply thought it was a "must do". This guy repairs windows all day long and sees the things that can go wrong.
Just thought I'd share this info.
