Is it true that if you are not into betting $50 plus, you need to get out of Men's Day Golf in the First Flight?? What ever happened to playing for "fun"??

News to me. I have played in Tuesday men's day at Mallory and Glenview. In my experience it was unusual to have any side matches at all.
Count me as someone who does not play for $50!

I was playing a very high end course once, and a couple of celibs were in the group in front and were arguing about the bet. They were talking loudly about it being $2 or $5. I asked the caddy why those guy were so hot about a few bucks when they could both afford to buy the place.
Turns out they were playing for $5 a yard. So a 520 yard par 4 was a $2600.00 bet. Pretty expense hole.
