A week ago today, we joined the long line of disgruntled Comcast customers, returning their equipment, and going Direct....Oh happy days!

Yes, having a problem. Rebooting the boxes and not able to record anything last night. Not sure what today will bring. Kept on getting a message that they were having a problem. Love the X1 platform but hate all the issues with the new system.

This is my first X1 outage. At first I thought my DVR went bad which would s*ck, but Xfinity must have had some server trouble.
The initial outage was only X1 for us, my non X1 televisions worked and Internet was OK. As stated when X1 came back I still could not initiate a recording. It was disappointing as we wanted to watch the CMAs later without the commercials. I did note that scheduled recording worked, just could not initiate.
Recording works this AM (at least a quick test I did )
As a side note my wife hopped on Xfinity chat, she was number 9 hundred and something. I told her that is a good indication it is not just us :cryin2:

I wouldn't call it an outage; I'd call it an outrage.
People on TOTV used to point out the fact that DirecTV goes out in a storm. Well, in the last year we've lost it once in a storm, for about 15 minutes. On the other hand, there have been numerous complaints on the forum in the last year about Comcast going out.
Just a little personal, non-technical, unreliable test on my part, Bogie.

That's exactly one of the reasons we switched form Comcast to Dish a little over a month ago. Cost was another factor. So far, we are very pleased with the Hopper and the Joeys. There have been a few issues, but calling the Tech Support has been very easy. We had Comcast for around 20 years, so there is quite a bit of learning with this new technology and equipment.
The last time I called Tech Support, I was told that for the first 3 months, new customers get a priority when they call.

Comcast Corp. has confirmed a partial national outage for Xfinity subscribers with its new X1 set-top boxes and delays for people attempting to contact its customer-service call centers.
There are five million X1 set-top boxes installed in homes across the United States, though the cable-TV giant says the technical problems - now several days old - has not affected all of them.
About noon Thursday, the website Downdetector.com indicated outages in the Philadelphia and New York areas, and in California and Colorado.
More than 7,000 comments have been filed on the website related to the Comcast outage.
"X-1 still down," one comment said Thursday. "Nothing seems to fix it. I am having it replaced with an older box in a week."
A woman from Port Charlotte, Fla., said, "Hope the company is planning on compensation for 1/3 of the US customers being without any TV for a few days!"
A Comcast spokeswoman said Thursday, "We know some of our customers may have missed their favorite shows off and on over the past few days and were unable to easily reach our customer-care representatives for assistance, and we're really sorry."
The technical glitch erupted as the company was upgrading the X1 platform with new services and features, the company said.
"We've identified the cause, and our engineers are working to fully restore our services. Additionally, we will be reaching out to impacted customers to ensure their service issues have been resolved and they are satisfied with their service," the spokeswoman added.
Comcast executives say X1 is the cable industry's leading technology and central to its plan to modernize its telecommunications network.
Teri Simon, an Xfinity subscriber from Lower Merion, said she doesn't know whether she has an X1 set-top box but she's been without Internet since Tuesday night.
"Comcast needs better crisis management," Simon. "You can't get anybody to say anything."

Then you have to call for the credit and when it doesn't come you call again. Been there, done that.
