Posted this in the Golf section with not much luck so trying here . . .

This has probably been discussed but couldn't find anything good so here goes.

I am seriously considering a new set of clubs. Would like to do it "right."
Want to get fitted and purchase what would work for me (if there is such a thing).

From those who have had this done who/where would you advise me to go for this? (Be nice).

Also curious - do you feel that this actually helped your game?

I got fitted at the Villages Golf Academy at Palmer about 4years ago. My fitting was for irons only. I can't say whether it was a great help or not since my HDCP is about the same, but it definitely eased my mind about whether I had the right flex, lie, and length for my swing.

I would highly recommend Steve Wresh at Continnental Golf Club on Route 44. He spends hours with you, not only for the fitting, but then you can arrange follow up visits which are far less expensive than those at The Villages, and he doesn't watch the time like they do here at the Academy. My wife got fitted for clubs and has dropped over 10 strokes in her game. As I go along with her for her lesson, I pick up on what he is showing her, and that has lowered my handicap over 5 strokes. A very pleasant young man, with far more ability than those who are here.
