Be careful about hiring this company. The owners are Rob and Bridgett Williams. We paid them in full for trimming our bushes and shrubs, weeding, removing old mulch and replacing it with new. They only completed part of the work and we haven't seen them since. They do not respond to their email, and only occasionally answer their phones. The only contact information we have for them are email: Wb.tree@yahoo.com and 2 cell phones: 352-399-1049 and 352-260-4542.

Linda, email them with the link to this forum. Last chance for them to finish or the post stays!!! That is a lot of money to part with for the work you expected! Be wary of "the treeman" also, he never completed his shabby job for me either. I have a great tree trimmer now!

Yep, I already emailed them. As usual this morning Rob again told me it would be done today. I no longer get my hopes up.

I'm happy to see you posted this warning. It's deserved!

Glad you posted the name. Your fellow "Villagers" appreciate the warning of whom to stay away from. There are so many things that are new to us when we first move to the Villages. We have so many decisions to make from lawn service, pest service, etc., etc., etc., etc., and I think TOTV is such a wonderful site to help with these decisions. Thank you again and I hope there will be some sort of resolution for you.

Lessons to be learned from this, never pay upfront. Beware of lawn services and landscapers who want to be paid for a year's service in advance. if they wont take a deposit, balance on completion or monthly payments, then they are not worth doing business with.
If you feel you have been burned and work was not completed as contracted, then you should get in touch with Sheriff's Office and contact Seniors Against Crime. Sheriff's Office should be able to give you local contact names and numbers, or go to Florida Attorney General's website.

I really am sorry they didn't follow through. I know you were hoping they would. No matter how hardworking they are, they still defrauded you. I'm sure this was one of those instances of robbing Peter to pay Paul (get your money to but the supplies needed for another job and so on) and they probably did have the best intentions but that they never called you and never were honest enough to give you an explanation speaks volumes.
I agree you should call the Sheriff's Department on this. It really sounds like they've gotten in over their head and I'm sure this problem is one that will continue from one customer to another.

Talked to our renters this morning. Apparently Rob did go by yesterday -- didn't do any work, but at least went by. He recognized that since he had let things go and not replaced the mulch, they would need to weed again (no surprise there.) Our renters said that he seemed to be such a nice young man, just very busy at this time of year.
For now I'm just going to let this sit. We are leaving Sunday for a 2 week trip to Tuscany (our 40th anniversary!) If the work still isn't done when we get back, then I'll revisit what to do. I'm having a hard time with this. Is the Sheriff's Office for under $500 too extreme?

Add $500 to a few other people and it starts adding up quickly. It's really a shame he couldn't have contacted you and been honest about things. Saved you a lot of stress and given him a lot of goodwill rather than this negative publicity.
Hope he keeps his word. If not, then I think you really should contact the Sheriff. Not so much for your loss but to prevent it from escalating to too many others.

You may want to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Here is a link to the one serving the Villages area. http://centralflorida.bbb.org/

On the Virginia Trace web site there is a list of "good services" and is comprised of ones people have used and recommended. I have used a couple of them and so far so good. It covers almost any service you would ever need.
And Linda, enjoy Tuscany. Was there last September and it was really a great place to see.

Wow Linda, have a really good time in Tuscany. It's my favorite part of Italy. Go up the Amalfi Drive for me! Happy Trip!

Wanted to be fair and give an update on this company. Redwitch sent me some pictures today and part of our garden has actually had new mulch put down. They are about a month and a half late, but it looks like they may actually do the work they were paid for. I hope so because I don't want to take the next step.

Glad to hear they "seem" to be doing the job you paid for months ago but that certainly doesn't erase all you have gone through to get them to do the work. You have been more than patient with them-- Thanks for the update.

I will say that the portion that is complete looks really nice. They didn't chintz on the mulch, which seems to be what many do.
I did talk to Linda's renters and they told me that the kids doing this said they had gotten some bad mulch and had to reorder it. That was a major part of the problem. It's really a shame they didn't keep Linda apprised of the problems. It would have saved a lot of grief and ill will.

Well, they never finished. Just spent another $120 to have someone else do it after the fire (see my other post.) I think it was the old mulch that burned, but it may have been some of the new too. But at least it is done.

Never Pay These People Up Front. Ask yourself why you should pay for work that is not done yet. It just does not sound right. I hope you can resolve this problem.

NEVER pay for any service in advance, ever! Regardless of who they are. Even Large companies can close their doors without any warning. Those who pay up front need to just understand.....there is nothing you can do...certainly warn others, that's all. The money is gone!
Please Villagers when any company large or small, tells you they need up front funds, RUN THE OTHER WAY!
