I really like Chad's Lawn Service (352-430-5416). It is a company, but a small one. He will do as much or as little as you want from fertilizing to weeding and trimming plus the lawn care. One thing I really appreciate about his company is that his guys seem to care as much as he does -- they once called me to ask if I minded if they skipped my client's lawn that week because it was too wet and they were afraid the mower would damage it. That, to me, is what I want in a company -- that the employees care almost as much as their boss.

So your looking for a guy running a business illegally, with no insurance, etc...
I wonder who will be ripped off when a window is accidentally busted or their mower runs into and damages your neighbors property or yours.
Sounds like you have had some bad dealings with past lawn companies, as the saying goes "You get what you pay for". Several quality lawn care business's have been mentioned on this forum, do your research and I'm sure you'll find one that isn't a rip off.
Hey Leo---The guy is looking for an honest lawn company, it doesn't mean your illegal to not be a rip-off and theirs plenty here, the man is looking for a good lead, your making it sound like he's a cheapy

I took it as him saying all lawn care companies are scalpers, I own a lawn care company.
I don't service The Villages, out of my area.

I agree but I would like to know why he thinks they are rip-offs.

I might be interested. I and my sister-in-law both stopped using the companies because their standards did not meet my standard. The companies always came back to address issues but it is inconvenient to complain. I was told by a company rep that their service meets the industry standard but will never match my standard as I have a personal interest in how the work is done and looks. I decided that if I have to check behind them that I don't need them so now I take care of both properties myself. I mow, trim, edge, pine straw, weed and trim the shrubs. We got tried of less than satisfactory service and having to pay for a service when none is necessary. For example, mowing in the winter when the lawn is dormant. Why? Trimming the shrubs 5 times a year when 2-3 times is sufficient.
