Plan is to leave one vehicle in OH for 5 months while in TV for the other 7 months. FL will be primary residence. Haven't verified with DOT web site. Just wondered if anyone else does this.

I know some do it for their car here, so it is doable. See bubbalarry's thread on car storage for tips, etc.

I registered my "up north" car with a FL plate. The renewal of the FL plate is SO MUCH cheaper than a MI plate.

Currently reside in KY (sell sell sell), will have primary "rez" in FL with 2nd home in OH. Just looked at records for plates in KY 2 cars & 1/2 ton truck $780. Get me outa here. Gemorc did you have to have car inspected in FL to get plate? Required in KY. All they did was verify VIN.

For Fla registration the clerk walks out to the vehicle to check the VIN also.

The State of FL will supply you with a form that will validate the VIN number. It has to filled out by a sworn police officer where the car is located. I picked up the form at the FL Secretary of State office. After mailing it home, my daughter had the form completed and mailed it back to me. FL will not accept a copy or a fax. I had the license plate in 10 days.

The clerks at DMV can also look at the car and get the VIN number if you bring it to the DMV office.

Thanks gemorc. Yes one vehicle will remain north. Ask and you shall receive. Is this a great country or what. Also great neighbors and new friends on TOTV.

Anxiously awaiting to transfer.
