Was at a D-23 meeting at Disney where several speakers had presentations about the 64-65 NY World's Fair. One of the guys has a web site with lots of great photos. Thought some of you might enjoy it:
Welcome to WorldsFairPhotos (http://www.worldsfairphotos.com)
Also photos from a number of other World's fairs.

I have fun memories of that World's Fair. Lots of cars and car exhibits, failing the Mobil car simulator economy run (had a lead foot then), and the wonders of NYC.

I was 7. I remember riding "It's a Small World" with my mother over and over. It was air conditioned, and my mother was hot. I can still hear that song in my head.

I was in the forth grade and my Mom was a chaperon for our class. What a fantastic experience to see push button phones, the real Elsie the cow and myself on a TV monitor!
Thanks for posting this!

Brings back fond memories, we lived in Broomall PA, and were going on a trip up through Canada, along the way spent 2-3 days at the Worlds fair. Saw my first Mustang (fell in love with these and have had about 10 over the next 50 years), and lots of other sites. Thanks for posting link.

Went there with my parents both years. Chrysler Turbine, GE Carossel of Progress, still go to Magic Kingdom mainly for it. The Sinclair Dinosaurs are at Disneyland.
Was 12-13 years old. Bought a DVD on the Fair. Showed to friends of ours before we moved. The wife's parents went there for Honeymoon.

Went many times with my friends as we were only a city bus ride away. Loved it! My husband was an altar boy at the pre-opening Mass at the Vatican Pavilion. Got free passes to everything, and paid not one red cent, even for food! He and the other altar boy remember it to this day!

In the seventh grade my class went to that Worlds Fair. I hung out with Marty Brack and we both had a reputation for always being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Like being on the Belgium Waffle line while everyone else was sitting on the bus. We thought we were so open to new ideas. Can you imagine putting ice cream on a waffle? Those Belgians sure know how to live. When we did make it to the bus Sister Jovita was not happy with us but we had the time of our lives. We made up some lame excuse while holding the waffle.
We were so young and naive. We thought in the year 2000 the world would look like the Jetsons. The Worlds Fair reinforced that vision. With all those futuristic buildings and escalators. I fell in love with animatronics. Remember how real Lincoln looked or that little dog in the World of the Future.
hey OPey, thanks for the memories

I remember going for a ride in an Amphicar! When another one went by, the wake came right up over the windshield and into my lap. I also remember the Carousel of Progress and the new Mustang. We went multiple times, and it was always enjoyable.

Where are the automatic cars we were to have in year 2000? And the flying cars?
Also went the Montreal, Knoxville, Spokane, and Vancouver World's Fairs
And remember, the '64='65 Worlds Fair was not officially sanctioned by the International Expo Committee.
EPCOT Center was to be a permanent World's Fair, but it is nothing compared to the real World's Fairs. Remember the IBM Egg, the Goodyear tire, The moonscape on roof of Kodak which also had largest print ever on display, God go on now that I am getting started.

Do you remember any of the other restaurants? Not the american or Italian food that was all over the area before the World's Fair.
I think that was the first time I ate a Belgian Waffle but I also think it might have been the first time I had a taco too.
Bizdoc - just curious. What is a D-23 meeting?

D-23 is the "Official Disney Fan club". They have annual conferences with presentations on Disney topics. The speakers include Disney Legends like Marty Sklar and Bob Gurr, folks from Disney Historian's office and Archives, and others who write about Disney. The last conference in California had over 4,000 people attend. The one last weekend was smaller - probably around 2,000.

Don't forget the Wienerwald at the Austrian Pavilion! Served rotisserie chicken just like in Europe.

The beautiful sculpture "Pieta" was loaned by the vatican and drew many admirers, and the many large reflecting pools were beautiful

I also remember the Pieta. I was 12 but it seems like yesterday. It's funny how of all the exhibits in the Worlds Fair I only remember the Pieta. Must be the CRS kicking in.

Really enjoyed the fair. So many amazing things! You could even call up a recipe on a computer!!
A guy I knew at work didn't come back from lunch one day. Seems he got arrested on his lunch hour. Turned out he and a friend had robbed the African Pavilion a day or two earlier.

You remember the Pieta and I remember eating a Belgian Waffle. I feel ashamed of myself.

The only day I missed was the first day, as I had a big test.
Worked there selling postcards. The last day everyone was taking things. I got one of the letters from one of the pavillions and still have a desktop calendar.

Our high school in New Hampshire had an exceptional choir, and we were invited to sing at one of the pavilions in the spring of '64. It was a great trip. Funny the things you remember, I don't remember which pavilion we sang for, but I remember the sound of the horns of the little vehicles they used to move around the site. Had a distinctive "melody" of 11 notes, rather than a single tone.

Ah yes, the touch button phones where they had a regular rotary phone right next to it and you would see how long it took to dial your own number on each one. The animatronics family of the future, the moving wall, Belgium waffles. What a great time, just before the world got crazy.

I remember the 'golf' carts that carried people around the fair and their horns sounded like the Greyhound theme of the day. I remember coming home from the fair and that tune would be stuck in my head for days!
