Century link, due to it's fiber optics. But not available in some areas. I jut when through this. Sales not connected to what's actually available in the field. I would first see what's wired in your area. you my have no choice but Comcast.

At least for me I did get fiber optic run to my house after I found out it was available three house down the street. But didn't want to wait three to four weeks or more for the service. So if comcast breaks their contract by sneaking up the price I now have option.

We had Comcast and the DL speed was more than 16 Mbs. We now have CenturyLink and the DL speed is only around 4 Mbs. The extra 12 Mbs aren't worth the additional expense.

If you are willing to pay extra then most providers can offer speeds that will likely exceed your needs(unless you have an online business or hobby that require excessive video)...as it is even the slowest speed by comcast will successfully allow streaming video with very few interruptions...

We are south of 466A and have Century Link fiber optic to the house. The nominal rate we have is 10 megabits/sec download and a bit less than 1 megabit/sec upload. I work from home and move some large files around and we also stream video from Netflix and Hulu+. With Netflix, 3 megabits/sec is needed for HD so we have plenty of bandwidth. I can get a higher rate from Century Link but don't see the need.

We have Comcast and our download is 25-30mbps, upload 5mbps. However, it does fluctuate. I don't know whether that is the fault of the signal from Comcast or between our wireless router and the PC.

I would consider our current speed to be the minimum that I am willing to live with.

Comcast has a hotspot at Lake Sumter Landing at the Japanese Steak house.
the name is xfinitywifi.

Have not tried it to see if it can be picked up at a distance from the restaurant. I think it would be free for Comcast customers.

Bright House is giving me download speed of 40.12 Mbps and upload speed of 2.38 Mbps under their basic package. I have been very satisfied with their customer service.

25Mbps is the slowest Internet available through Comcast. $10 more will get you the 50Mbps Blast service or you can get the Extreme 105+Mbps for another $10.

Indy, take the cable from your wall and plug it straight into the back of the TV. Scan for channels. All the majors are high definition. They are the dot 1 channels. Example: NBC is 2.1 in 1080i HD, 2.2 is WESH-ME it shows old movies in 480i. 6.1 is CBS 1080i, 35.1 is Fox in 720p HD. You also get the Villages channel, NASA and a bunch more. Check it out...

In Maryland Comcast made all channels proprietary. You can't get any channels without an adaptor. I would guess they will do this all over eventually.

Brighthouse (south of 466a) 22.86 down and 2.34 up. Unless you are running a business the up link speed is not all that important. Price is ok to.

Thank you for your help.The internet tested at 30Mbps and the TV works great for the second bedroom.
I recommend Tom to all on TTOV If I ever need AV work done I will be calling Tom.

Comcast is the fastest,…..BUT they are out of control, providing services down our throats we don't need, and charging outrageous prices. As soon as i can find a internet provider, no TV, i will say goodby to comcast and have TV by air.

There have been some recent threads on this. I have seen a couple of router hangs in the last couple of months and asked Century Link to take a look. They wound up replacing my router and in the process I asked them about any new "deals" as our 1 year "introductory deal" is going to end soon. By the way, they are very responsive to service calls and came out the next day. The net result is I found out that 100 megabit/sec (100 Mbps) is available if you have fiber to the house. A Century Link employee also posted that 1 gigabit (1000 Mbps or 1 Gbps) is also available. It will apparently take a couple of phone calls to make the 1 Gbps happen but it appears you can get it. I wound up getting a new deal for 40 Mbps that is $5/month less than I am currently paying. The 100 Mbps was more than I was willing to pay and I don't have a requirement for that much bandwidth even though I work from home.

If you really have a need for the fastest possible internet and live in an area with Century Link fiber to the house, then Century Link will provide the fastest if you can find the right person to put through an order for 1 Gbps. It is also surprisingly low cost - about $80/month plus taxes/fees for 1 Gbps, if I recall correctly. For those who don't keep up on this sort of thing, 1 Gbps is available in relatively few areas of the country. You would really need a pretty hardcore movie download habit (not video streaming) to see an advantage over more pedestrian internet speeds. Streaming Netflix video in Hi-Def only consumes about 3 Mbps.

What number did you use to call Century Link? My last dealing with them regarding a router/ethernet issue was like a Comcast flashback. Started out online and then moved around with no resolution. Thanks.

I called the repair number (800-788-3600). I have found them to be pretty good. If you can't get a resolution, ask for a supervisor.

I agree......very responsive, great quality, download up to 100MB. Wouldn't touch Comcast ever.

Comcast customer service and marketing schemes seem to be the main issues. The price they charge you is only good for x__ number of months, then it goes up and then you have to fight with them to obtain a somewhat lower price (but higher than you were originally paying) for the same service, and then the price you agree on may not be the price you are billed for anyway. And then you have to fight with the billing department. Exasperating!

SERVICE!!!. Was working on an issue for a friend that kept getting a message that she was not able to connect to ther server to get mail. After going through the multitude of self repair procedures without success we called Comcast, or attempted to. Six calls to CUSTOMER SERVICE in a one hour perid were all disconnected within 5 to 10 minutes after being put on hold. So I went to their website to have a live chat. When connected it stated we were 66th in line. Can't even imagine how long that would take or if that would be dropped. She and I have Comcast internet only because the end product is the fastest available. The CUSTOMER SERVICE is the worst available. That is the ISSUE. PS: I am a die hard Packer Fan.

If you are unhappy with Comcast you may have other choices, depending on where you live. I suspect most people have faster internet than they really need.

My landlord has been trying to get us hooked up with Comcast Internet for over a week. They don't answer the phone and wait time is hours if you go to Comcast in The Villages.

Yes, I have had comcast when I used to live in New Jersey. They were fine. I have Time Warner where I live now- no real problem. I will be using Comcast in the villages- I will have internet and the base 45 channels. Nothing fancy.
