I'm disappointed in the big televised parades these days. They're not parades anymore; they're musicals. Especially the Macy's Day parade. They show so little of the floats and cartoon figures in the air, very little of the marching bands and kids from different high schools. It's all performers and singing & dancing. I could go to the theater and see that. Plus a lot of the broadcast is taken up with interviewing actors and plugging their television shows.

Bah Humbug. But happy Thanksgiving!

I love the NBC coverage of the Macy's parade. The TV cameras are in front of Macy's. The floats and bands do not get to Macy's until 10am and then they will be shown. The first hour is filled with performers to entertain the crowds that are waiting for the parade to arrive. The floats and bands start three miles away. As the floats and bands pass in front of Macy's they will be shown. Keep watching and you will see what you are asking for. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

Thanks for the explanation. I see the floats now. We had switched to CBS and found it better, but I think we switched at 10. Now it looks like a parade:coolsmiley:

I did not see the parades today. I am looking at the beautiful Mrs. Trap bobbing in the wonderful Caribbean water. We are in St. Maarten right now on this great cruise.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

So your first name is Sand!

Have a great cruise and a good TG dinner tonight cooked by someone else! I must talk to you about that cruise. The idea of a TG cruise is enticing.

What is shown on TV is very different from what the spectators on the street see. I went to the parade quite a few times both as a kid and as an adult. What goes on in front of Macy's is a show, and that's not what the folks along the parade route see. They actually see a parade of floats, marching bands, balloons, clowns, etc. Completely different experience, and much better, IMHO. I don't watch it on TV much anymore. It's one long commercial.

Switched early on to CBS, only other choice. Was much better. Saw the balloons and floats. Not the musicals in front of Macy's.

Agree that CBS was so so much better. NBC coverage a loser.

I agree. I took my kids a number of years ago and we had a great time.
