Today we spotted a woman pushing around a dog in a collapsible baby stroller in Bell Glade food area. Looked to be a Chihuahua breed. Dog stayed in in outside area where diners were present.
Does Bell Glade have permit for this?:mmmm:

Better in a stroller than on the menu!! Been plenty of places outside the good 'ole US that it could have easily been an appetizer. As long as it wasn't yapping obnoxiously.......if they've got the $$ to spend on a stroller for the mutt, let 'em go for it! :)

If they allow dogs in any of the eating areas I know several
big spending residents that will not be going there in the future..
We will be watching for this!!
This reply mainly for the managements attention... not interested

If you want to reach management, this probably isn't the place to go. Suggest you either call the manager directly or write to corporate about it. Many places allow dogs in the outside eating area. If not okay by you, don't eat at those places or simply eat indoors. There are bigger things in this world to get upset about.

Redwitch hit the nail on the head and is right on the money.
You don['t like dogs -- don't go!
Intimidation tactics of "big spending residents" isn't necessary,
nor is "we will be watching for this."

I think it is wonderful that well behaved dogs can be allowed in outside eating areas. There aren't all that many places and there are a lot of big spenders that would be thrilled to frequent restaurants with their pooch. "This message is intended for management."

If one sees something that they don't like or approve of, instead of bringing it to TOTV, go to the source.
They are probably the nicest people you'll ever meet.

It's about sanitation. I know many dog lovers/owners think that their dogs are human. They are not and are not the cleanest. If the dog was allowed it was more than likely a service dog.
I love dogs, but many owners of dogs have little common sense when it comes to do's and don'ts.

The Florida legislature passed a law a few years ago that allows dogs to frequent outdoor patios, if the restaurant wants to partake in this law. It's up to the individual restaurant.
If a resident has a problem with the law, contact your local state representative or senator and tell them to repeal the law.

We were at Longhorn Steakhouse and there was a poodle in the booth across the aisle from us. I sent an email to Longhorn Corporate and they didn't care.

so.....i have a pot belly pig, cute as the dickins and no shedding. If I put him in a stroller can I bring him to the local food establishments?
He's the same size as a poodle.....I never thought of bringing him to dinner with me....but now...maybe...

If someone says it's a service dog, they cannot question it.
We went to Cheesecake Factory in Tampa a few years ago. There was a man with a small dog inside.
I asked our waiter about it. He said it's a service dog. The man has been going there with his wife of 55 years, a few times a week for a long time, He lost his wife 6 months before and didn't function well without her and needed the dog to help him cope.
I said no problem.

I know we have been down this road before. I love dogs---we had one for years but have not replaced our "Candy" who passed a few years ago.
I have observed folks getting upset with just seemingly anybody calling their dog a "Service Dog". I understand but I see some real possibility of abuse. I don't like government regulation but this issue may have to go there so when a person says their dog is a "Service Dog" it has been certified as such.
IMHO a restaurant is no place for your pet----a true "Service Dog" is fine.

Maybe you should get signs made up and protest.
Block the cart path to any place the does not do what you want.

Unfortunately the Feds are already involved. They have approved miniature horses, pigs, monkeys, etc. I'm thinking of putting a gator on a leash and suing if I get turned away from a restaurant or store.

As a dog owner and dog lover, I am almost certain this one was probably flying under the radar. The gentleman that owns Belle Glade, Evans Prairie, Bonifay and Orange Blossom is very professional & I doubt would break any food service/health dept. rules.
The problem then becomes when told patrons cannot have pets in food service area, pet owners will whip out their easily bought on line service animal paperwork & vests and wave it in the Manager's face. Saw it done recently at Panera @ Lake Sumter where the woman had TWO leashed small dogs and WALKED them right into the dining room where patrons were eating. I felt sorry for the manager on duty, as she had to accept the paperwork for what it supposedly was. Two Service Dogs for one lady - Really?
Agree with earlier post. Call Belle Glade or any of his other establishments & speak with the owner. Can't remember his name... Good luck.

How will you know if they are legit ? You can't always see a physical problem with a lot people. It could be a dog that detects seizures.

My dawg, Rufus, is a service animal that helps with my dyslexia and my Tourette's. He has been trained to hand out little cards that explain why I suddenly start shouting, "THIS!...THIS!...THIS!

I notice a few people are adamant about not eating anywhere a dog dines. How do y'all handle an invitation to dine at a dog owner's home?
Also, if in the real world we have to tolerate (according federal law) service dogs inside a restaurant, why is it such a big deal to have dogs in an outside dining area?
Just curious.
