Emailed to Friendly's home offices recently, and got this reply from their customer service representative:
Thank you for your recent email. At this time there is no Friendly's restaurant
scheduled to open up in The Villages.
Sincerely,

Apparently, their deal with the old Bono's restaurant building was false. Too bad, I thought they'd be a good fit with all the other businesses going in around Southern Trace.

I heard thru good sources that IHOP outbid Friendlys and they will be starting remodeling soon.

While I like Friendlys, I LOVE IHOP so if this is true great. I had heard that the developer was asking far too much from the Friendlys' group just as they did when Denny's negotiated with them and gave up. :dontknow:

Well IHop sounds like a good mix. Rather have them than another BBQ restaurant.

My wife and I are coming to TV in August for our second week of fun in the sun. We were there for a week in July last year and hope to make this a our new hometown a year from now. I have to admit, I prefer a good BBQ place over IHOP but didn't see one there last year. I understand from the new video, there are 62 resteraunts in TV so it's possible I missed. Where is are the BBQ restaurants? I don't want to miss them this year.
Oh yeah, we used to have a Friendly's in Allison Park but for some unknown reason it closed. They always did a good business.

As far as I know for sure, the closest good BBQ is around 18th & Brooklyn in KC, though I understand Memphis claims to have some passable ones. None that I've tried around here is all that hot.

Is it just me, or does the BBQ "up north" seem to be different? Down here, it seems to be overly dry and then sauce served seperately. I personally prefer the meat cooked in the sauce so that it "falls off the bones" and is not chewy like so much of what we've tried
locally. Also, the sauces seem to be very hot and/or on the sour side.

With the exception of BBQ in NC, I pretty much like'em all but KC, Missouri stands out for me as great BBQ. Just outside of TV on 27/441 going South (I'm guessing Fruitland Park) is the Oakwood Grill which has a local following for good BBQ in the area. George
