Our dachshund will not chew milk bones or greenies. A friend told us about this liquid Tartar Remover by Denta-C that works great..A capful of tartar remover in water.. Purchased at Pet Smart and within a month the yellow teeth are GONE. I believe the price was around $8.00... Highly recommend.
Better than the alternative - $300 vet. bill

How do you apply it?

At first our little dog was not thrilled with addition to his water (one capful) but now drinks without hesitation (might be because that was the only option I gave him for water):bigbow:

the capful of tartar remover smells a lot like mouth wash and looks like it also.

I used a gel on the teeth that softens the tartar. You can get it Whole Earth in La Plaza Grande up on 441 right beside the Sharon Morse building. It is easy to use and works like a charm. I have been able to scrape off old thick tartarnd prevent more build up. I use it about once a week or so. Think it is called Tropiclean. I'm on the road so can't access the bottle at the moment, but Joan or Lee can help you at the pet store.

Another solution- a product called "Plaque off" by Proden available online. It is made of dried (gritty) seaweed. A tiny scoopful is put in the food each day. Her teeth are pearly white!
