Do you think the "counter" needs to be calibrated? Awfully high to me when the weather is pretty nice around the country. Weird.

No, it looks like someone is checking TOTV out big time with these numbers showing up.

OK, now I've gotta ask the question to Jan and other admins.... trying to understand the spike in activity.

The other day I received a generic but rah-rah message about TOTV. I assume it was shotgunned out to all 4500+ registered members of TOTV. That would explain a spike...those who have drifted away over the months decided to take another peek. It seemed the server had slowed down a bit the day the email went out....hopefully the site and web server can routinely handle loads of 200+ members online. And, Jan had mentioned that hosting costs would go up when we surpass 1,000,000 monthly views.

So, my question to Jan and others....have you done any other recent mass marketing (ads, posting on other sites, etc) beyond the member email? And, what are you trying to accomplish? Recruit additional advertisers, keep existing ones?

Just curious...

The trend seems to be continuing with high page view counts each day in May 2008. https://www.talkofthevillages.com/smf/index.php?action=stats

237197 page views for May and it is only about 9:27 a.m. on May 10, 2008!!
