I am cleaning out my closets in the bathroom and came across a lot of bottles of hair conditioners, samples of toothpaste, toothbrushes, skin cream, deodorant , etc. and was wondering if there is a church ,homeless shelter,or woman's center near the villages that I can donate these items to. I hate to throw them out.

Hope I'm on the right forum for this.

There is a Goodwill pick-up truck parked on the west side of the "new" Walmart on CR 466.
I would think any food bank collection point (most supermarkets) would accept these kinds of products.

Operation Shoebox takes travel size items and sends them in goody bags to our troops overseas. I believe they are at Lake Miona Rec Center on Mondays from 1-3 p.m.

Surely there is a battered women's shelter or a place that temporarily houses abused children in the area.

I used to mail mine to a battered women's shelter. They didn't want to give out the address for security reasons, so I mailed to their PO Box. I used to travel for a living and would have boxes of travel sized everything in no time.

Thanks for all of the info. Went on line and got, some phone numbers of some shelters in the area and will,be giving them a call. Some of my conditioners are full size bottles that have never been used. Hubby bought them thinking they were shampoo.

I personaly applaud and thank you for making the effort to find someone to take these items. So many usable items are discarded because the home owner can't take the time to find a good use for them.

The Haven in Leesburg serves many battered/abused women and children in Sumter county. Also in Marion county, they have another home for battered/abused women and children.

They love receiving gifts like these. Many women leave home without anything personal. However, one of the items most needed are baby diapers for the little ones.

Donations are needed all year long in so many locations and are truly appreciated.
