Here is an interesting link offering some explanation of why oil prices are in decline.

I am pleased to see that one of the major factors is the amount of oil being produced from the USA. Mostly from fracking. Just think the position we could be in if the USA would get aggressive in it's quest for energy independence.
More drilling....more pipelines .....adding refinery capacity....major opportunities for investors....jobs.....world standing.....effect on the USA economy.
Major opportunities for the USA just waitng to be taken to reality.

Yes, the price of oil is about $61 bbl right now. The tar sand oil production is slowing down and investors are pulling out of the Alberta tar sand area. Refiners have to spend more money on this type of oil refiner. Are they willing to continue on a shoestring profit? Sounds to me as if the Keystone pipeline definitely is not needed now.

Increased production in the USA (go team), a decrease in demand from foreign markets because of their economy, and supposedly the Arabs wish to engage in a price war with us - bring it on - our entire economy is not built on the price of a barrel of oil.
