Anyone been to the new Tommy Bahama store yet? I walked through briefly and thought the clothing was nice but then I flipped over the price tag on a pair of ladies shorts.....78.00! I sure hope they have good sales! Not sure if The Villages will support those kind of prices. What do you think?

We went and found the prices normal for TB. Most items for men were 50% off though.

I have always thought TB was too high price for my wallet. I feel that way about most of the clothing in the pro shops. I always look for the sale rack.

I went to their website and joined their e-mail club. They sent me a $50 off $100 coupon and keep wanting me to use it. Not sure if that is still available, it has been a few weeks since I joined.

I went to the store on Friday and I was told that it is an outlet store and at the time that I was there all men's were 50% off and woman was 50% off and I think all home and accessories were 60% off. I bought a bracelet and a few candles for 60% off and I was hoping to find shoes for the same discount but I couldn't find anything so I bought a few other things then went on the retail web site and saw the same bracelet for full price in their retail store...I thought I did well and I love the quality of all their products. Great addition to The Villages and I was told by an associate that people are coming from all over because it is an outlet which can help neighboring restaurants etc. They can tell by the zip code that you give with a purchase. She said there are truly TB fans that will travel to get a bargain so I think that we should embrace them.

Did you perhaps miss the discount signs?

Where is the TB store located? I have not seen it and I do like the quality of their products. Probably Brownwood? Don't get down there very often.

We stopped in and thought the prices were ridiculous even with the discounts and sales. I don't think they are that great a quality either :-/

After years of paying full price for the shirts (which are my husband's favorites), I'm thrilled to have this outlet shop in TV. Great prices compared to malls/online for the same product.

Back a couple of years there was a thread on here with people saying they wanted Tommy Bahama in the villages. I put together a packet with the numbers and gave it to a friend who is in their corporate offices here in Seattle. Several of the buyers and planners I worked with when Macys closed down our buying office and put us out of work went over to Tommy.
I don't know if it had any affect but I did get a thank you from their stores planner.
Tommy Bahama clothes are designed by a team here in Seattle and then produced for their stores and also for stores like Nordstrom and Macys. As they carry their own line their markup is a bit high but the prices are not more than other high end lines. The stuff does wear well and is well made, at least in my expierience. I don't have much of it as it is a bit steep for my wallet. But as many expressed a desire I forwarded the request.

I'm glad you did, Trudy.
Some of the nicest 'Florida' shirts my hubby owns are TB. They look great and hold up well. He says they are very comfortable.
They are higher end, so I don't shop there on a regular basis.
I feel the same way about the store in LSL- Natural Wonders (for myself)
It is a special treat (on occasion) to add a piece to the wardrobe- one that will last and truly be enjoyed.

My wife worked in retail for years, including Tommy Bahamas. She says that the merchandise for sale in the outlet stores is not of the same quality as that in the regular TB stores. The outlet stores stock "seconds" (defective merchandise), outdated styles, and much of the outlet clothing is even manufactured separately from the first line clothing.
I compared a pair of TB shorts from the outlet with a very similar pair that I boutht at the TB store in Orlando, and the difference in quality is very apparent when even casually examined.
So what, who cares? Not that it means anything, and both shorts are looking good, but folks should not feel that they are getting a great deal on real TB products by shopping at TB in Brownwood. You always get what you pay for. A little bit like buying a Rolex watch on Canal Street in New York.

Hubby stopped in to look around and left after looking at a price tag of $128.00 on a very plain shirt. He definitely won't go back. Even at 50% off, that's too much to pay.

50% off what? That's a joke. They could say reg. price was $1000 for that shirt and offer it for $64.00. What makes that shirt special? Material, thread, or something unknown? Actually it's just a shirt without anymore quality than you could get at Pennys.

The Tommy Bahama store is a Tommy Bahama Outlet store. All the merchandise is either overstock or comes from the TB Retail stores (I work there). We sell no seconds, it is all first quality Tommy Bahama. And it is discounted, unlike the retail stores. We also run different promotions, offering greater discounts. If someone joins our email club, they can be privy to those promotions before the non- members, thereby getting some great deals on wonderful merchandise. The response from the Villagers has been terrific and we appreciate it. Thanks to all for your support. For those who haven't made it to Brownwood lately, please stop in and say hello.

The price is 50% off the tagged price. If the tag says $100, the cost to you is $50. Some people assume the price on the tag is with the 50% off. Guess they should cross out the original price maybe

Don't understand all the negative comments.
If you don't like a store, don't go there. Same thing goes for restaurants.
If you think something is too expensive, don't buy it.
Problem solved.
Need to cover the basics before we get to algebra.

My husband likes the shirts in the outlet store. I checked the quality vs the ones bought for full price in department stores and they are identical. The store is a great addition to Brownwood.

Love Tommy Bahama clothes. Outstanding quality & fit, and should be a great addition to the retail mix at Brownwood. Considering the thousands of luxury homes all over TV I believe there are most likely plenty of already loyal TB customers, as well as many soon to become customers once they discover the quality merchandise in the TB clothing line.
