I was searching for something and this Fire TV Stick came up. After the initial purchase of this item and connecting it to your TV is there a cost to get Hulu and the other sites?

I obviously need technical help here and would appreciate anything you can tell me - and in words of one syllable would be really good!:smiley: Thanks.

Hulu is $7.99 per month. You can sign up for a free month at Hulu.com.
You could also get Netflix for a similar price. I have heard good things about the Fire TV stick. If you are a Prime member on Amazon you can get free movies that way.

You need to subscribe to the services you wish to view .... Hulu has a free version and a paid version. Obviously the paid version offers more programming.

If you have Amazon prime member then you get free Amazon videos --- it is a good value and they have a pretty good selection.

Youtube is free.

Both Fire Stick and Chromecast are great products but you need to have access to the content you wish to view ---- and most of the better content has a price.

Or, you could just update your old VCR with a "smart" Blu Ray disc player with Wi-Fi.

My Son said that he gets Netflix, Hulu, Amazon movies through his gaming console. So if you have one for the grandkids (or yourself) it might connect depending on the brand and how old it is. Amazon prime by the way is I believe $99 a year.

My problem with dumping Comcast and going with streaming is that the episodes of the shows I like that are available are last years so I would have a year that I would have to watch movies and the like till I could then again watch those shows. Am I missing something. TNT for instance when you go to their site to stream shows it asks you to log in with your TV provider info Comcast direct dish etc. So if you don't have one of those it doesn't work. Again some of last years shows are on Amazon or Hulu but not this years, or at least that is what it looks like to me.

By the by if you use Bing as your search engine and are a member of Bing Rewards (free to join) 450 points can be redeemed for a month of Hulu plus so you could try it for free. I do 30 searches every morning so I get 15 points a day one month and you would have enough for a free month (or $5 amazon gift card)
