Here is another view.* Don't believe the shallow reporting of CNN on this issue...
http://www.theobamafile.com/ObamaReligion.htm* Actions, associations, and ancestry speak volumes.
http://www.danielpipes.org/article/5544* From Daniel Pipes, a respected moderate Islamic scholar.
http://www.jihadchat.com/index.php?showtopic=11247* Another site urging caution concerning B. H. Obama's truthfulness about his "past" religion.
What is sad :( is right here on this website people have used this smear campaign against Obama.
One man's smear is another man's truth. (old Italian proverb I just made up.)** Truth is labeled "smear" to cover up lies. (an old Lithuanian proverb I just made up.)*
* "Slander" can be substituted for "smear."

I give up. I truly do! You'd much prefer to just believe the slander and then further slander the man yourself than even remotely try to find the truth. I'm not a supporter of Obama. I preferred Hilary. But to condemn a man because of his parents, some of his friends -- I've always found it amazing that the people he names as his potential advisors is never mentioned and is totally irrelevant (maybe because they're not a member of some fringe group?) -- his name, his refusal to wear a stupid pin ... that, to me, speaks of bigotry, idiocy and stupidity. If that is how you choose to select your president, so be it. You win and I pray that the best man for president truly does win.

... and I pray that the best man for president truly does win.
* Yippee...we agree
I do too.* Now the bad news:* God does not always grant what we pray for.
And as for slander...refer to the Old Italian and Lithuanian Proverbs posted two notches above this one.* Ignorance of deceit is a dangerous thing (old German proverb I just made up.)* Mind made up without all facts leads to unintended consequences.* (Old Chinese Proverb I just made up.)* Beware one who cries "bigot" for she becomes one in her crying.* (Old French proverb I just made up.)
Redwitch...I have to say this about your name calling - it is insidious and insulting for you to declare "bigot" of one who sincerely and learnedly expresses an opinion about someone or something he believes to be a danger to our country.* This could easily revert to a name calling session where you could legitimately earn the name "ignorant" (unaware because of a lack of relevant information or knowledge.) I've noticed a lot of this going around...name calling to attempt to suppress the credibility of those who may have some information worth knowing.* It is chilling on free speech and reeks of an attitude of dogmatic superiority as the photo to the left indicates.

gfmucci, just curious as to why you make up proverbs? Is it because there are no facts behind what you say? It's very odd. Just my opinion.
Oh, here's one: "Of all the strategems, to know when to quit is the best."
"The Thirty-Six Strategems" are believed to have covered almost all the military strategic thinking Sun Zi, greatest military strategist in ancient Chinese history, expounded in his thirteen chapter momograp, which has been regarded as the bible of the military in Chinese history and has now been very useful in business in Asia as well.

Chelsea:* No facts?* You've got to be kidding.* That is certainly not the reason for my fun proverbs.* I created a few "fun proverbs" just as the video on a related thread https://www.talkofthevillages.com/smf/index.php/topic,6608.0.html provided what is considered "fun satire" for some.* No, Chelsea, the facts are all over the place if you care to look for them.* I've posted many. No, not to worry, I don't go around every day making up fun proverbs - only when they seem appropriate.

Sometimes I'm sorry I'm a Canadian, y'all have so much fun bashing each other. I love America politics. Your contenders are so colourful (no pun intended) and Canadian politicians are so boring. Canadians just don't get passionate about our political candidates, they are more like light posts. I guess that now I'm a seasonal resident and pay taxes 12 months a year, perhaps I have a right to an opinion, even if I can't vote. And then you'll have someone new to bash!
A lot of people are wondering why Hillary continues to stay in the race when Obama is thought by many to be invincible. I think Hillary is staying in the race to try to further discredit and weaken Obama in the hopes that McCain will win. Yes, I think she wants McCain to win. In four years McCain will have disenchanted voters, Obama will have been long forgotten and the way will be clear for Hillary to run again and win. IMHO, Hillary is all about personal ambition, and that is why she has stayed with Bill all these years. With the Clintons, it's all about long-term strategy.
And now, you'll be glad to know, I'm putting a pillow over my head.

Yeah Chels, I was surprised to see our Bare in political. You have to give it to the woman, when she finally enters, she has something interesting to say. Post often, Bare. I like the way your brain works.

I'd like it better if Barefoot wasn't so spot on. I do understand that politicians as a whole are pretty self-serving, self-centered, egotistical jerks, but for Hillary to put her desires before what is best for this country is flat out obscene.

Hi Barefoot, I'm glad to see you're posting too! We need some new voices in here. I guess I'm going to give Hillary the benefit of the doubt. I think she's staying in because she's a tremendous fighter i.e. its not over until its over. If some strange revelation came out about Obama tomorrow, for example, he had a tryst with a prostitute, or some other thing, those delegates pledged to him could become unpledged, and she'd be back in the ball game. And I think her hubby is a fighter too, and he's anxious to have a role in politics again, so he's egging her on, thinking that this may be their last chance. I agree with you that it is personal/egotistical for them. But does that make them different from most politicians? I do think they're hoping for a miracle, though.

Good post Lil Dancer.
Where I come from, we are big Hillary fans. Her sign is in every yard. She is an excellent senator for New York State.
I have met her 4 times over 20 years and I have always been very impressed. However, the "hate Hillary" machine has been going on for years. I don't think you can buck that much hate.
I like Obama too. I just don't want any more Bush policies...and I think that is McCain.
It is interesting how different parts of the country have such different views.

Aw... you're just being humble.
...the James Bay Project, Quebecois separatist movement, Nunavit getting status, Mulroney (he's a board all by himself!), the francophone-anglophone debate (especially about signage), aboriginal land boundaries, the Blue Jays winning world series', why the capital is Ottawa....
Considering the overall size of the population, Canada's just as much fun "politically" as anywhere.
