Got a question and I'm not sure this is the correct forum but here goes. For those of you who rent your places, have you ever rented to someone from Europe? If so, how did they pay you? We returned home last night from our travels in Tuscany and are very aware of the issues with US dollars and Euros. People who are renting our place next November are from GB. If they give me their deposit in Euros and the dollar drops further, then what? Also, I believe most banks charge a foreign currency conversion fee? Do you pass that on the your renters or just suck it up?

BTW, we've only been gone 10 days but I'm way out of touch with TOTV. No hope of catching up!!

They are renting in the US, I would ask for payment in US dollars.

I have had several overseas renters. One does a direct deposit into my local bank here in the Villages. If I remember correctly the bank charges me about $35 in charges for this. Example : Renter is sending me $1000 but I only get $965 because of charges. I then just show renter my bank statement and she gave me $35 in cash.

Another renter sent me their deposit by Money Gram. On this one there were no charges to me . I was given some info and had to go the Albertsons. They have a Money Gram telephone there that I called them and gave the info the renter emailed me. The Money Gram people on their phone then gave me some numbers to give to the Albertsons service counter. Albertsons then gave me cash ($635).

Wonderful! On the return trip, however, we sat on the runway for 2 hrs at JFK until they could find us a gate. Sorta takes the bloom off the rose.

Try American Express (Dollar) Money orders....they can be verified by your bank on the spot
