Too bad we don't have folks on Capitol Hill willing to speak out like this. J.D. Pendry is a retired Marine Sergeant Major who writes for Random House. He is eloquent, and he seldom beats around the bush! )

"The Axis of Idiots"

Jimmy Carter, you are the father of the Islamic Nazi movement. You threw the Shah under the bus, welcomed the Ayatollah home, and then lacked the spine to confront the terrorists when they took our embassy and our people hostage. You're the runner-in-chief.

< SPAN class=postbody>Bill Clinton, you played ring around the Lewinsky while the terrorists were at war with us. You got us into a fight with them in Somalia and then you ran from it. Your weak-willed responses to the U.S.S. Cole and the First Trade Center Bombing and Our Embassy Bombings emboldened the killers. Each time you failed to respond adequately, they grew bolder, until 9/11/2001.

John Kerry, dishonesty is your most prominent attribute. You lied about American Soldiers in Vietnam . Your military service, like your life, is more fiction than fact. You've accused our military of terrorizing women and children in Iraq . You called Iraq the wrong war, wrong place, wrong time, the same words you used to describe Vietnam . You're a fake. You want to run from Iraq and abandon the Iraqis to murderers just as you did the Viet namese. Iraq, like Vietnam , is another war that you were for, before you were against it.

John Murtha, you said our military was broken. You said we can't win militarily in Iraq . You accused United States Marines of cold-blooded murder without proof and said we should redeploy to Okinawa . Okinawa, John? And the Democrats call you their military expert! Are you sure you didn't suffer a traumatic brain injury while you were off building your war hero resume? You're a sad, pitiable, corrupt and washed up politician. You're not a Marine, sir. You wouldn't amount to a good pimple on a real Marine's butt. You're a phony and a disgrace. Run away, John.

Dick Durbin, you accused our Soldiers at Guantanamo of being Nazis, tenders of Soviet style gulags and as bad as the regime of Pol Pot, who murdered two million of his own people after your party abandoned Southeast Asia to the Communists. Now you want to abandon the Iraqis to the same fate. History was not a good teacher for you, was it? Lord help us! See Dick run.

Ted Kennedy, for days on end you held poster-sized pictures from Abu Ghraib in front of any available television camera. Al Jazeera quoted you saying that Iraqi's torture chambers were open under new management. Did you see the news, Teddy? The Islamic Nazis demonstrated another beheading for you. If you truly supported our troops, you'd show the world poster-sized pictures of that atrocity and demand the annihilation of it. Your legislation stripping support from the South Vietnam ese led to a communist victory there. You're a bloated, drunken fool bent on repeating the same historical blunder that turned freedom-seeking people over to homicidal, genocidal maniacs. To paraphrase John Murtha, all while sitting on your wide, gin-soaked rear-end in Washington .

Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Carl Levine, Barbara Boxer, Diane Feinstein, Russ Feingold, Hillary Clinton, Pat Leahy, Barack Obama, Chuck Schumer, the Holly wood Leftist morons, et al, ad nauseam: Every time you stand in front of television cameras and broadcast to the Islamic Nazis that we went to war because our President lied, that the war is wrong and our Soldiers are torturers, that we should leave Iraq, you give the Islamic butchers - the same ones that tortured and mutilated American Soldiers - cause to think that we'll run away again, and all they have to do is hang on a little longer. It is inevitable e that we, the infidels, will have to defeat the Islamic jihadists. Better to do it now on their turf, than later on ours after they have gained both strength and momentum.

American news media, the New York Times particularly: Each time you publish stories about national defense secrets and our intelligence gathering methods, you become one united with the sub-human pieces of camel dung that torture and mutilate the bodies of American Soldiers. You can't strike up the courage to publish cartoons, but you can help Al Qaeda destroy my country. Actually, you are more dangerous to us than Al Qaeda is. Think about that each time you face Mecca to admire your Pulitzer.

You are America's "AXIS OF IDIOTS." Your Collective Stupidity will destroy us. Self-serving politics and terrorist-abetting news scoops ar e more important to you than our national security or the lives of innocent civilians and Soldiers. It bothers you that defending ourselves gets in the way of your elitist sport of politics and your ignorant editorializing. There is as much blood on your hands as is on the hands of murdering terrorists. Don't ever doubt that. Your frolics will only serve to extend this war as they extended Vietnam . If you want our Soldiers home as you claim, knock off the crap and try supporting your country ahead of supporting your silly political aims and aiding our enemies.

Yes, I'm questioning your patriotism. Your loyalty ends with self. I'm also questioning why you're stealing air that decent Americans could be breathing. You don't deserve the protection of our men and women in uniform. You need to run away from this war, this country. Leave the war to the people who have the will to see it through and the country to people who are willing to defend it.

No, Mr. President, you don't get off the hook, either. Our country has two enemies: Those who want to destroy us from the outside and those who attempt it from within. Your Soldiers are dealing with the outside force. It's your obligation to support them by confronting the AXIS OF IDIOTS.

America must hear it from you that these self-centered people are harming our country, abetting the enemy and endangering our safety. Well up a little anger, please, and channel it toward the appropriate target. You must prosecute those who leak national security secrets to the media. You must prosecute those in the media who knowingly publish those secrets.

Our Soldiers need you to confront the enemy that th ey cannot. They need you to do it now.

Semper Fi,
J. D. Pendry - Sergeant Major, USMC, Retired

"Good people sleep well in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to commit violence in their name." ...George Orwell

The Sergeant Major seems to have made his comments based on having been another one of the "rough men" stuck with the dirty jobs that politicans have a habit of creating. The "too many cocktails" comment was inappropriate to someone who has been in others' gunsights due to political ineptitude and self-serving grandstanding for votes and money.

I thank him for his service.....

I'm not certain what isn't a fact here?

Fact: Bill Clinton played "101 things to do with a Cigar", while in office
Fact: Bill Clinton did practically nothing about the first World Trade Center bombings and the U.S.S Cole
Fact: Democrats select John Kerry as their Presidential nominee. John Kerry lied about American Soldiers and his own military service yet Democrats want him as their nominee regardless. ::)

I'll stop there.

Fact: Condoleezza Rice and George Bush we warned over and over again about Bin Laden and did nothing about it.

Fact: Over 3000 people were killed because of this on 9/11.

Fact: Bush dropped the ball in Afghanistan when we had Bin Laden in the crosshairs.

Fact: Bush invades Iraq for no good reason other than profiteering and his every growing "hero" complex.

Fact: Over 4000 dead and counting.

Fact: Service men and women DO drink, just like everyone else. Suprise. I respect our troops, I have a loved one there, but serving does not automatically make them saints. I have many many friends that served in Viet Nam and still have trouble with drugs and alcohol. The ones that came home alive, that is. My Godfather has had 26 operations on his leg to date from Viet Nam and he's been know to toss back a few.

1. There seems to be selective memory when it comes to the Clinton administration's failure after the 1998 Embassy Bombings to neutralize bin Laden and the A-Q folk involved. Success then -almost 2 1/2 years before the Bush administration began - may have made a difference into whether 9/11 would have ever happened. We will never know, because it's a "what if."

2. I have many friends that I served with in Vietnam with whom I still maintain contact - and several whose presence are still with me despite being gone forever before their time. Of all, the percentage with drug and alcohol problems is far less than without. So, any asinuation that being a veteran is an immediate tie-in to booze and/or drugs is not taken as a constructive comment or acceptable reference.

Veterans do not claim to be saints, but don't automatically deserve to be classified as boozers or druggies simply because their political opinion differs from anyone. It's no different than classifying all Democrats as philanderers based on the actions of Presidents Clinton or Kennedy, or all Republicans endorse crooked deeds based on the actions of Pres. Nixon or Vice Pres. Agnew. OR classifying all members of an ethnic group as ______ or _____.

Negative classification is bigotry, and shows itself by negative connotation. If such association to booze and drugs was levied against a racial or ethnic group, there would be screams against it. When one is not a member of the classified group, it may be difficult to understand or accept that negative classification is offensive. The "some of my best friends are ____" doesn't change the fact - ask any offended group member.

I guess it's like motorcycle riding - If I have to explain it, you won't understand . . . .

Just to clarify, I did not say all, I said "many many" of my friends, etc. So, there was no negative classification by me. I was just pointing out, and it is my opinion, that just because someone has served our country, doesn't automatically make them a Saint. I stand by that.

I thank him for his service as well. It doesn't change my opinion of his post. In my opinion it is a right-wing rant, peppered with a few bits of truth in order to try to make the other distortions look real.

I have over 200 former Vietnam Vets that I know and none of them are druggies or boozers.* Most are hard working tax paying members of the American public.*

And Chelsea. As to Bush being warned over and over about Bin Laden, you are so miss informed that you are scary.* Clinton was offered Bin Laden and refused. Bush was only president 8 months when 9/11 happened.* Clinton knew about him for 8 years.* You can go all the way back to the Oliver North transcripts and he talks about Osamas buddies and there danger to the US.* And again a FACT and documented in the Senate hearings transcripts.* And please check it out.

Checked it out as you suggested and guess what, you are wrong. Glad you decided to emphasize it's a "FACT" though. It clarifies some a lot of your "FACTS".

Keep up the good work!

In leadership training, there is the adage that a good MANAGER does "things" well.
The good LEADER does the right "things."

Our Military is the equivalent of our MANAGERS:* They are doing well the things they are told to do.

Our Politicians are our LEADERS:* Are they doing the right "things?"

I viewed the movie "Charlie Wilson's War" the other day.* Charlie was portrayed as an effective renegade politician who thought he did the "right thing" in facilitating the defeat of the Soviet Union in Afghanistan.* He can also be viewed as the man who undermined US foreign policy and created fertile ground for Islamic extremists to occupy and train where we now have to fight and control instead of the Soviets.* Did he really do the "right thing?"*

Was it the "right thing" to create the vacuum in Iraq by eliminating Saddam - a question being asked by many.* All the while our military is doing a great job of doing well the "things" they are told to do.* That is likely the Sgt. Major's major gripe - the decisions of our leaders, some of which in hindsight appear questionable, whether directed by Democrats or Republicans.

An individual can't drink very much and be as lucid as the Sgt. Major was. His points are well-taken, and I'm confident mostly true, if not as even-handed as some would like.

Just couldn't resist checking further. So, I went to that ultra-right wing, conservative media monster known as the Public Broadcasting Service. Now, I realize that many look at PBS for being the "Praise Bush System" and just want to see it dismantled for it's total negativism towards the Democratic Party and all things labeled as "Liberal."

PBS' summary about bin Laden covers from 1988 through May, 2001, his entry into public life, when the US knew of his activities, the Embassy bombings, the cruise missile retaliation, the 1998 indictment filed by the US Attorney, and other "irrelevant" stuff" can be found at

Sorry to have to reference such an unreliable and biased source as PBS, but it was the best I could do at short notice...

My response was directed to the definitive, and absurd, statement that Ollie North mentioned Bin Laden in his senate testimony in 1987 and that was a specific "FACT" which should be checked out. That was the extent of it.

Sorry if it seems like I went off the deep end - Not a good day yesterday (lousy excuse, but the best I got).

We always seem to be trying to rewrite history and argue it, never recognizing sometimes (I'm guilty of this!) that all history will be slanted by the author. I think the line used to be "one man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist," and no better example of this is comparing American and British accounts of the Revolution in the American Colonies. All personal interpretations of sight, sound and smell bring some objectivity and a bunch of subjective analysis.

I hope the finger-pointing starts to subside, and what follows are desires for the future of our country and all of its people. It would be cool if those desires also weigh the potential downstream effects. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction is a truism - Newton's Third Law of Motion. Ignoring Newton's truism is always a very expensive oversight.

That is so true, in both local and national politics as well as the through generations of families. Very insightful.
